Anguilla--a real nice place

I'm a little late on this post, but as promised, here goes:
We decided to have a little adult trip. My wife likes beaches, so after researching, we found that Anguilla has real nice sandy beaches. Also, Anguilla is known for food, so I was happy.
For the available days we had, the only place available and within our budgets was Zemi Beach, on the East side of the island. Zemi beach
Next time we go, I will try to stay on the west end, as more of the activities, restaurants and resorts are on that end. Because of our location, I rented a sweet little Diahatsu and did most of my driving on the wrong side of the road (Anguilla is a British Island). Driving was easy and google maps got me everywhere I needed to get. On to the Pics.
We did not arrive in Anguilla until 6:30. We ate at the resort the first night and then crashed. Zemi Beach has a nice casual restaurant where you can eat on the beach. room, beach and pool views follow:
the next day I awoke to a beautiful island day. wife was sleeping, so I rented my Diahatsu and cruised around. nice views and beaches abound.
got back to the resort and walked down the beach to Gwen's beach bar. had the rib plate
Later, we at at Malliohana, a really cool resort on the West End. dinner was great. Malliohana

the next day, we decided to hit Sandy Cay, a small private island, with a bar and restaurant. LINK you have to take a small ferry boat over and once you get there, it is chill AF. We kicked it on the beach and had lunch. It's pricey but I'm glad we did it. we were two of only about 15 people on the whole island.

The next day was a hotel day. some SJW's were trying to save this exhausted pelican that landed on our beach.
about then, we decided to extend our trip another day, so we made all the arrangements, flights, etc.

That night, we went to the Four Seasons and ate off their sushi menu. Very good and the resort is ridiculous. pics do not do it justice. Formerly called the Viceroy, until Four Seasons bought it. next time I go back, I will stay here, but I need to save my money. Four Seasons

That night, we went to the Pump House, a late night bar. They had an awesome DJ that promised to buy a drink if he could not find the song requested. He did not disappoint. Pump House
While at the Pump House, we ran into a Raggae legend of the Island, Banky Banx. We got drunk with him and he ended up inviting us to dinner at his compound. I'll get to that later.
Next day, we decided to go snorkeling at a small beach, called Little bay. you have to take a boat around a cliff to access it. snorkeling was OK but still cool to get away from the crowds. Little Bay
Saw a goat on the road
that night, went to dinner over at Banky's place. Banky is a real interesting guy. He owns a bar and recently built a house, using his artistic abilities and craftsmanship. The kitchen crew brought us dinner at Banky's home. Grilled Lobster and Crayfish served family style with traditional island sides.
I don't know why but I barely took any pics. Here is wife with Banky and his cousin, Choo Choo, who keeps the party going at the bar. Banky played a couple of acoustic sets that night. I drove home but no idea how i made it.
Oh, I forgot why I didn't take pics. This crappy syndicated travel show host showed up to interview Banky. We think she was a fraud and got a good chuckle out of it. This is her filming
the next day, we beached it and recovered. Had dinner at Straw Hat. Very good meal and we ended up running into the host of the TV show, who was trying to get a free meal. It was weird. anyway, had crayfish again.
Next morning, we packed and went home.

Just booked Zemi for a week in September, wish I could give you a referral.
Now for questions, how did you get to and from the airport, expedia is failing me. Diving any good there? What would you reccomend I do and see other than the bottom of my glass and the beach? Do I need some currency before I get there?

Great review. Wife and I went to Anguilla for honeymoon almost 10 years ago and your review reminded me how laid back and welcoming Anguillans are to tourists. Very proud of their amazing island and glad to show you a good time. I, like you had to lay on the beach and recover a few mornings but they were right back to work with a smile on their face. I honestly think they're immune to hangovers.
We stayed at Frangipani on Meads Bay beach-very nice small hotel on amazing beach, right up the beach from where they built the Viceroy. We rented a car which is a must and explored the island which I highly recommend. It's very safe and many parts of the island you'll feel like you're the only one there, especially driving back to your hotel at night with one eye open.
We did a charter on the sailboat Chocolat which is run by the owner of a British restaurant and was the highlight of the trip. Brought us to some amazing islands, Sandy island was one of them and I forget the others. I can't recommend Anguilla enough.

Great report. Thanks for posting it. We have been talking Anguilla for a few years. Next year is looking very promising for us to make that trip....
