Copper looked to make out pretty well with 8 inches of much needed freshies reported this AM. I climbed in Eldo Saturday and mountain biked 15 miles outside of Lyons yesterday, so I'm taking a rest day and working even though we are off to get ahead of the game for an eventual impromptu Jackson trip. I got off work too late Friday to make the trek over this weekend and there was concern of wet, heavy snow with the warmer temps.

Winter Wondergrass tickets are insanely priced man. You know of any for sale at somewhere close to regular retail?

Seen a few for sale here and there, but yeah, they got expensive. I bought soon as they went on sale so I made out alright. Should be a fun weekend.

We just hired another guy at the ski shop so hopefully that means I can sneak a few trips in. I got airline credit to burn before March 17 so I might try and hop from Denver to Reno.

I bet those 8 inches were tracked out in less than an hour today. Crested Butte reported 2 but a few fell before the lifts closed as well which made it soft on the groomers. Hoping this next storm on Thursday pans out.

Crowds at CB disappeared at lunch today, hoping it stays that way the rest of the week

I bet it will stay that way all week. I also have a feeling the initial forecasts of some snow later this week will increase as the week goes on

Just got back from Lake Tahoe...skied Heavenly 2 days and Northstar 1 day. Snow was amazing, unlimited powder in all the trees, all lifts were open, and there were surprisingly small crowds despite being a holiday weekend. Never had to wait in line at all. Won some money gambling as well.

However, trying to leave during yesterdays massive shitstorm of snow had me on the edge. It took 7 hours to get to Sacramento which is normally a 2 hour drive. Roads were shut down due to avalanche control, accidents, stalled cars, and the highway to get out is more like a small 2 lane road. Felt like I was gonna lose my mind or be trapped there. My friends and I were trapped on the side of the highway waiting for the road to open up with nothing but a few coors lights and some water..they all missed their flights home yesterday.

Today I looked up how much snow they got, and Heavenly recorded 42" yesterday and it's going to snow all day today. The weather they get is the Sierras is unreal. You're really rolling the dice when you plan a trip to Tahoe. You could be skiing on rocks or trapped because it's snowing 4 feet a day. It's way less consistent than Colorado or Utah.

Tahoe is definitely boom or bust. I might fly down to Reno soon with some unused airline credit I have to burn by March 17.

Sounds like you hit it right though.

Yeah we got super lucky except when it came to leaving yesterday. Good choice picking Reno..it seems to be a much safer bet than flying to/from Sacramento.

Headed to Sugarloaf (Maine), with a 2.5 year old in tow.

Suggestions and/or prayers are appreciated.

Forecast totals for tomorrow and Friday have backed off now for Crested Butte...frick!!!!

Is it too much to ask for one powder day during a week trip???

Glad it worked out for you. Traveling for ski trips is always rolling the dice, and way more so out in the Tahoe area

I was expecting more, but at least a lil something something is going to fall. With all the spring weather I'm kind of out of ski season mode. It's so conditions based and I have to be a weekend warrior for the most part. Ready for camping, climbing, and biking at this point now.

You did better than me. I hit Sierra and Kirkwood and had huge crowds.

Interesting-I would've thought heavenly and northstar would have way more people than kirkwood and Sierra.

Exactly what we thought...and exactly why we picked the resorts we did. Apparently there were plenty of others who planned the same way.

The snow is still pretty nice. Just a few icy spots today and literally rode onto every lift with no wait so at least that was a positive, haha.

I could see it snowing pretty good several miles on the next range towards Aspen. A local I talked to on the lift said that range gets the goods more often than CB.

I can understand your frustration especially having to be a weekend warrior and fight the traffic on 70 and then crowded lifts. I have one more trip this season the last week of March to Winter Park so for selfish reasons I need the snow machine to crank back up and stay on, haha.

Spit on and off today up at Steamboat. Supposed to see some heavier snow starting tonight around midnight.

Might be getting a deal on the skis I wanna buy.

Yep at the bus stop in Gunnison right now about to head up. Almost 4 inches since 4 am and it is supposed to keep going so it could be a very nice day!
