Hope everyone is having a blessed week thus far.
First off let me say !!

I like to consider myself a big thinker and person with huge aspirations so I spend many days brainstorming.

I've had an idea in my head for awhile that I ran by a few people that I know who loved it so I wanted to see what others would think in regards to it before I move further. Regardless i'll still push for it but I would love extra advice and feedback.

This is something that I truly have a passion for first and foremost.
There are only a select few of these out there as far as the whole concept goes.

I often visit SecretEntourage.com and while on it I find myself getting upset because it keeps me interested but I notice that the forum is rarely used and the content I do want is expensive and it shouldn't be, but I do understand as to why it is.

Soooooo.

My idea will be in the entrepreneur niche. This website will be a place , 17-40 years of age mostly, people can go to in order to read how successful people started off and have gotten to where they currently are. The main thing about this site is that I will interview 2 successful people a week. The way I interview these people will be via either email, phone call, Skype, streaming apps, and in person. The website will also hold a community forum where everyone can discuss topics that would be relevant to entrepreneurship and success.
On the site I will also do a podcast once a week discussing many different topics that come up or I feel are great to discuss.

So as of now this site will consist of these things:

-2 interviews weekly with successful people from many different fields (athletes, business owners, compnay people, etc..)
-1 podcast weekly done live and posted on the site
-a community forum for discussions
-1-4 blog posts a week that will be outsourced via upwork.com, guestbloggers, or myself

Now you're probably wondering whom will I interview and how will I even convince people to allow me to interview them. Well since I started to mess with this idea I began reaching out to people and it has been a huge success as far as interest with being interviewed. Some big names have agreed to do them, has me pretty excited.

why would any of these successful people be interested in me interviewing them ? Only one word is needed, "EXPOSURE!" I didn't think some would even respond back, give or take a few were emails back from their assistants or social media controllers, but still they all pretty much agreed to do so once the site is up.

The thing about it that excites me is that I would enjoy this alot!!!

What do you all think?

Thanks so much for taking your time to even read this it's greatly appreciated.

This probably isn't something I'm interested in, but I can tell you that I expect an initial obstacle will be credibility/skepticism.

Entrepreneurship products, by the amorphous nature of the subject matter, tend to have credibility concerns. Get rich books, business self help materials and the like...it's a very exploited field because there are so many people who hold themselves out to be successful entrepreneurs when, in truth, they're fabricated, have skill sets not easily transferred, got lucky, etc. That said, you have a somewhat captive audience that is emotionally invested in the concept that they can duplicate the rare success achieved by elite stories of entrepreneurship. That could be valuable. People are looking for tips and shortcuts and other explanations as to why someone was able to do something few others can accomplish. But it's a very crowded space.

No offense OP, but the nature of your proposal would give me pause. Keep in mind, however, that I'm not interested in entrepreneurship in the sense you're selling it, so I don't have the emotional attachment that may drive the interest of others. I don't say that to discourage you, but rather to illustrate how some people view aspirational proposals like yours. Your idea, to me, is a fine one for an internet community. It's a shallow one for a startup or income generating project. Essentially, it strikes me as an entrepreneurship effort ABOUT entrepreneurship. If I were in the market for this I'd be particularly skeptical in light of the fact that you seem to be cutting out the substantive portion of entrepreneurship -- you're arguably not creating anything, you're trying to sell selling (I'm being intentionally skeptical for effect).

So what is the goal? Is it to make a ton of money? I think that will be a challenge. Is it to create a productive community for like minded individuals?

Here is something that I also forgot to mention. I'm not going to be selling anything. The thing I hate about the other sites are that they charge $100+. My time is valuable yes but I enjoy the opportunity to speak to and interview people that I actually look up to.
You may wonder how I will make an income from this site but to be honest at this point thats not my interest. I actually enjoy the concept. I really do appreciate your replies and they have def already opened my eyes and I look forward to more, thanks so much.

Let me ask this, what could I do as a founder of this site to make you more interested ?

I apologize that I passed up your main question for the most part. I'm not interested in making an income from this at the time. Maybe years or many months down the line but right now no. I could def use the site to make money simply by clicks, ebooks, or affiliated marketing but I don't want to become that guy. I would love to just provide content and in return make connections.

Well it's tough because I'm not your target audience. But let me think about it a little bit from how I think someone in that audience might approach it.

I work with startups a fair amount, but usually the more mundane aspects. I'll let you know if something comes to me.

Traffic actually for these types of sites are generally easier to come by because if you interview the right people in the beginning they will bring in the traffic alone. I have some big name, which I would rather not speak on for now for their privacy, that would easily be able to share their interviews and bring in atleast a few hundred to few thousand each.

I also have a social media accounts already set up with thousands of followers with the name of the domain already.

Sponsored ads would be another good way or even offering free ebooks or other options.

Are they bot followers or have you truly put in the sweat equity to generate a following somehow already?

You're gonna need to sell ad space if you want any kind of revenue (which you should be getting for the time spent working). I see it as a good idea and being successful. Honestly, a lot of people who won't ever do anything will enjoy it. Sort of like The Art of Manliness for people wanting to start careers.

You're gonna have to push hard to get your name out there

If it's something you will love and it's not something you will depend on to support your family, don't let anyone here dissuade you. You don't even need to worry about driving traffic or revenue if you look at it as a hobby you will enjoy because all hobbies cost money, right?

If the content has value, the traffic will come over time.

Def appreciate everyones feedback!
Even the tough criticism is taken with appreciation.

My minds not on the money side of it for the 98% part, like I said maybe far down the line.
To me getting advice from people is something I truly enjoy and I know I'm not the only person out there who uses the Internet for career advice, motivation, and inspiration.

I personally think the site would be something great, but of course will take much behind the scenes work for the beginning mostly .

Doing something I enjoy, speaking to or interviewing people, wouldn't be a bother whatsoever.

I don't have any advice for generating traffic, but on the content side of things, it does sound interesting. But what I would hate to see, as another poster mentioned, is just a bunch of fluff interviews with people who are merely exceptions to the rule of achieving success and can't offer practical, actionable advice.

Not everyone aspiring to be successful wants to be an entrepreneur either. And some people couldn't if they wanted to. Me, for example -- married with two kids... Any risk that would result in a significant reduction income (even temporarily) would be disastrous right now. People at the lower end of your target age range are going to have a difficult enough time landing an entry-level position. So, while you said you would be interviewing people in a variety of fields, I'd also recommend you keep a broad definition of success. Though that would conflict with the idea of generating traffic through exposure, because a Senior Director at an engineering firm, while still a "successful" person, isn't going to need/want exposure enough to share the interview with thousands of followers (which he/she probably wouldn't have anyway).

For me, it would all come down to WHO you interview and if they are willing to go beyond the generic answers that everyone has heard thousands of times

I think you want to enter an already very crowded space. This space is already occupied by the NY Times (they have a series of advice articles by people who run small businesses), Shark Tank, numerous Entrepreneurship programs at major universities. Hell, even the Tonight Show is a serious of interviews with people promoting their stuff.

Your major challenge IMHO will be trying to convince people working insane hours trying to be successful to include you in their marketing plan when you don't have an already very wide audience. I'd start by trying to develop a big audience first, because if you don't have that you won't have good interviews.
