I have a personal phone - Iphone 5 and a company provided work phone - blackberry Z10.
I have been considering moving down to 1 phone - the BB Z10 - because i hate having two phones. I am unsure and have a few issues/questions.
To add to the issue, i dropped and cracked my iphone which forces me to fix or upgrade the phone. I was leaning more to upgrade (i am due for an upgrade) since i am having battery issues.

- Im not into having every new phone/feature that comes out which is why i still have an iPhone 5.
- My company is not like "big brother" watching everything we do so that isnt an issue.
- My concerns are what the blackberry cant do. The lack of apps sucks. I am a big hunter/fisher and the few apps i do have are outdoor apps that the BB has none of. Also, no capital one or chase banking apps. I enjoy working out and have my music on my iphone. I can not purchase music on the BB but i can add music from a computer. Even though i dont download much music, i still like to add songs to workout or fishing playlist.

If i break down an buy an iPhone 6, then im "stuck" with 2 phones for sure. A solution i had was to get an Ipod touch for music/apps and adding a data plan to this. Is this possible or even worth it these days? An ipad is out of question because i will not be using it in the gym or on the boat.

I dont keep up with all the new tech features so are there any other solutions out there?
Also, ive been using only the BB z10 for almost two weeks now, and all i can say is even for the little i do with it

You could always drop the line, or get a hotspot.

As for your work phone, I would recommend getting a Google Voice account.

What would a Google voice account do?
Drop the line? drop my iphone line and use the data for a touch?

Edit- quick search and read a little on google voice - i may still have to carry two phones because a lot of company correspondence is through outlook email on the BB.

Is your company outlook email locked to only be available on BB? You should be able to access it with an Android app.

ive tried to get some apps on the bb from the android platform. I still couldnt find the apps i wanted though. Dont want to have to go through the process of doing that every time.

Just Google Chase mobile app apk in your mobile browser and in less than 5 seconds you will find the app. Download onto your phone and install. Seems straight forward to me.

I was referring to changing apps over from DROID to BlackBerry through Google and all the noise.

battery issues

There is a recall and Apple will fix it for free. Had my battery swapped out at an approved store last weekend. A quick google search will get you the info you need.

That being said you could always get an iPod touch. It would do everything an iPhone can do without having to pay for a contract. There are even apps like Skype that would allow you to make calls over wifi. I actually did this for about a year before I broke down and got my first iPhone.

Just get a new battery/screen for your 5 if you are fine with your current setup. As said before, you may get a battery free from Apple from the recall. If not, you can just go to one of those aftermarket repair places and get china ones for cheap.

I have 2 work iphones. Unlimited data on both, but have been reluctant to drop my personal in case I leave companies and will never get unlimited data back.

My company phone is basically just used for watching netflix (bc I don't get throttled on it) and the occasional phone call. I keep it with my for when my battery dies.

I am bringing my iphone to apple this weekend to get the battery and sleep/wake button issue fixed. Im hoping that they just replace the phone with an overstocked iPhone 5.
Im considering going the ipod touch route since the z10 is just awful and i dont see my company getting rid of BB in the near future .

I don't have it mainly because I don't want to answer work email away from work, but we are shifting away from company issued phones and all work email will be through your personal phone.

MobileIron is the company/app and I think the ones that get it will be responsible for their own data. But they are installing WiFi in many places in the building, which will be secure and require a password to access, so while you're at work you won't be using any data.

So it is possible, but maybe not in your situation.

MobileIron sounds like it is something that your company sets up on their server for extra protection. Not everyone has a password set up on their phone, and companies don't want unauthorized access into the corporate email due to an unsecured phone. With MobileIron, you probably need to log into their app every time you open it. I know there is an app/service called Good that does this.

- Im not a fan of the HUB.
- The swipe up to unlock. Its not like the iphone where you swipe once. You swipe up to wake up, swipe again unlock, you can also tap to unlock on a message/email preview. just a lot of different ways to do one simple thing complicates the process
- I dont like the keyboard. Im always sending a message before i am done due to the location of the send icon.
- sometimes pictures get saved to the work space and are not available in the personal space.
-multiple times ive taken pictures and had to restart the phone for them to show up
- pictures always show up pixilated when texted or emailed to iphones

Its like the operating system is trying to be too sleek which makes things tedious, at least to me it does.

No, MobileIron is an app. It accesses company email. I downloaded the app one time on an okder phone but never went through with getting IT to set me up. The wifi and password are separate from MobileIron. That is just a security thing since I work for a bank.

Does MobileIron work on any Exchange Server email, or does your company need to have MobileIron set up on their server?
