Start menu looks awesome. The wallpaper....yikes.

How they thought the abomination of a start menu from W8 was a good idea is beyond me. This is 100x better.

From what I heard at a conference last week, they went all in on touchscreen and didn't expect the backlash that they received from non-touchscreen users. Windows 10 is supposed to detect if you are on a touchscreen device or not, and base the start menu on Windows 8 if you are and Windows 7 if you're not. The user will be able to manually toggle between the 2.

That makes no sense, because a great many people including myself were complaining loudly from the very first beta. The truth of the matter is that Ballmer went full retard, because he was so terrified by Microsoft's miniscule presence in mobile and saw Metro as the grand unifier that would leverage Windows to take over mobile. No surprise that it failed miserably at that. Oh well, now he can regularly go full retard in public at Clippers games, where he can't hurt anyone and is just someone to point and laugh at and envy his $20 billion or whatever it is.

It was a 100% dumbass move by them. Most laptops and desktops do not have touch screens. Taking away the - and X was just plain fricking stupid.

Looks good for start menu, wallpaper is so futuristic. 
I have win 7 on my laptop, would anyone upgrade to 10?
I have win 8 on the desktop and have already put in for the upgrade since it isn't as big of a change.

I've been running the insider preview since day one and the new start menu is niiiiiice. Ran into my first major bug today, WiFi is basically broken on my phone and you have to manually reconnect to hidden networks on PC (Surface Pro 2). Other than that it runs pretty smooth for the most part, just a few minor annoyances here and there that they're fixing slowly but surely.

Distracting? I guess it would be OK for a couple hours every few weeks. My wallpaper changes every two hours courtesy of DisplayFusion. It randomly cycles through 500 or so I've collected from sites like these:

The window title bar/border and taskbar also change to reflect the current wallpaper, like the horse of a different color. I thought I would hate that, but it's actually pretty cool. I also make the taskbar opaque, which looks a lot better when it's three rows tall. There is not a single icon on my desktop. I can't believe I ever lived any other way.
Anyway, no Windows 10 for me on my main machine due to the demise of WMC.
