What is a good WiFI signal booster? I am just looking something inexpensive to help my connection when I am on my outside patio.

I have looked at Amazon. But I do not know what would be good product for this.

Thank you for the suggestions.

Why not spend a little more and get a better router..?

We were having issues with our Router and AT&T sent me a replacement this weekend. I installed it.

The signal is stronger than before but I still have trouble with my patio.

I am looking to spend $30 or less

This is the one I was thinking about on Amazon

I have that exact model. I was not looking to cover the neighborhood - I just wanted to level the signal out around the house. Easy to install and works as advertised.

Ubiquiti Unifi Acess Point.

This. A family member didn't need it anymore and gave one to me. I went from having crappy service in a back room to being able to get service in my back yard. Just plug the access point directly into the wireless router. Apparently they are just better gadgets than wifi routers.

I have that exact model also, went from buffering Netflix in back room to full signal no lag. Works perfect

Can you link the model on Amazon? There are a TON of options and I'm a bit pedestrian with my wifi/router knowledge.

Here's the Amazon link
Unifi AP Longe Range

Remember this is not a router. It's plugged into your router. Typically they are hardwired throughout a building and mounted on ceilings or walls. I've found leaving it beside my router has plenty of range extending to my backyard.

The issue I have with my home network is not getting a signal or connecting, but the speed when I am not in the room where the router is.

My home office is in our bonus room above our garage and unless I am in that room the speed is terrible, but I have no issues when in the office or hard wired to the network.

Will this access point boost the speed throughout the network range? I have the Blast plan from Comcast and for now am just using the modem/router they gave me.

That's awesome.

Does it create a new Wifi name? Or does it just amplify the current one?

jumbo, i believe you may get better results through an access point. Basically you'd be bypassing your wifi router.

TheCaterpillar, yes the access point has it's own name and password to connect to. It's a similar setup to a wireless router where you can tweak settings in the device (what channel it broadcasts on, etc)

I've got kind of the same question for my mom's AT&T 3801hgv modem/router combo. IIRC, she has like a 12 or 15MB package. The spot she keeps it is small.....small enough to not fit both a modem and a router, but it is under a cabinet with a lip under it.

She was complaining the other day about connectivity at the far side of her house. 3801 is on one side of a 4000sqft sort of rectangular house. Both my mom and sister are on the side with poor connectivity. They have a DirecTV box, 3 cell phones, one desktop and 2 laptops, and an Apple TV hooked up. There are a few instances that they are all drawing at the same time.

Would the Ubiquiti Unifi UAP-LR work best, and how would I go about connecting it to the 3801hgv? I was thinking that a Netgear N300 plug-in would also work and be much easier. I could just plug it in upstairs at the middle of the house. Thoughts?

I hooked the unify up. It is showing in my available networks along with my prior acess points. Can I leave them active or will that affect the unifi?
