I bought a Sharp 70" about 2 months ago that has already crapped out on me. They are going to replace the tv instead of attempting to repair it.
I'm going a different route with the new tv, I've narrowed it down to these two. Any advice or opinions are appreciated. Thanks.

I personally hate Samsung, but the 8 series looks fantastic. Also, that new Sony is not nearly as good as the previous version.

Also, what happened with the Sharp? I almost bought that before I found my current Sony.

The 850 series Sony is not full array LED which makes the screen darker....

The P series vizio is full array LED and the 65" is regularly on sale for 1,500.00$

Not familar with the samsungs and there different series....

DUE NOT GET AN LG....
I returned mine.

I would go with the Vizio if it were my money. Did you see the recent news about Samsung inserting ads into 3rd party programs?

bought a Samsung LN52A650 in 2008. used it for hours everyday and it's still going strong.

LG 55" LED I bought in 2013 just recently crapped out on me. I checked the warranty and it's for only 1 year.

Owned the Sharp for 2 months and one night the picture just went out. The menus and smart features would still come up but wouldn't show the picture for the satellite or dvd player. Screen would start to brighten up when you try but then go dim. Let me tell you that Sharp customer service is horrendous….that will be last Sharp purchase. Took them 2 weeks to tell me that they couldn't get a technician out to my area and every other day since then I speak to someone who is "handling" my tv replacement but to this point nothing has happened. I don't think anyone there communicates with each other, have to explain the situation to everyone you speak with and no matter what information I provide them it hasn't to this point led to me getting credited for a new tv. Quite an aggravating process. I've had 2 claim numbers that have been mixed up and confused and have sent in my proof of purchase at least 3 times. This morning, thinking my claim is nearly complete, I get another call requesting for me to send in my proof of purchase. Unbelievable.

I'm stuck purchasing through HHgregg since that is where the Sharp came from. I don't think they carry Vizio products.

Samsung above is another edge lit tv as well.

If you have any options of 1080p tvs with full array led backlighting, I would opt for those.

That said stay away from Samsung if you plan on using the apps on it. They are one shady company.

That's really a crappy ordeal. I'll keep that in mind for my next purchase. I'd also push for them to allow you to purchase at any retailer you choose, maybe with the caveat that they also sell Sharp. There's no reason for the manufacturer to care where you bought the original item.
