When can I expect TV prices to drop before the new models hit?

I know I just missed the Super Bowl deals, but I have to imagine the prices will drop once again as they try to clear out inventory for the new models, right? When would that be?

I tried that a few years ago and found that there isn't a set time. All manufacturers have different timelines and individual stores also have unique timing.
Your best bet is to walk through Best Buy and setup a slickdeals alert. The deals are usually decent, but they go quickly.
The best deals are on display models if you are willing to do that.

Now, although overall you will find apples to apples 2016 models will be cheaper than 2015 models when they came out.

The makers are on slightly different schedules now - they do alter production for certain things, but they make a big batch of their best sellers for EOY Holiday buying and Super Bowl. They make announcements at things like CES (which was last month), but the actual release is based around the panel makers production schedules. It's a big, complicated infrastructure.
Your best bet to get the absolute best buy is to get a door buster in November or a cyber Monday sale.
Other than that, timing the new release to get last year's sets doesn't seem all that fruitful. You can get 2014 and 2015 sets at Amazon right now.

I bought this 60" Samsung at Best Buy and I am pleased with it. Still on sale.
