My mother in law has a laptop that is so old it's scary. It's running Windows Vista.

Anyway, all she uses it for is surfing the internet and email.

I'm seeing some good deals on Chromebooks. Does anyone have any recommendations or insight?

TIA

I've got a 2013 11" 2GB RAM / 16GB SSD Samsung and really like it. I use it for light duty around the house and when traveling for the portability.

If I were using a Chromebook as my main computer I'd prefer a 13" with 4GB RAM.

vague Q - itd be like asking "whats the word on android phones?"

since there is such a wide variety, the product is going to vary a lot in quality.

i just bought a toshiba chromebook with 1080 display and this thing is beautiful and fwiw I largely prefer browsing the internet with it over my macbook air (which was an $800 machine)

I have a year old HP11 and love it. It's small, light, and has awesome battery life. I originally bought it to hold me over for a few months until I could upgrade my desktop, but I've continued using it since I built a new desktop. Yeah, sure, it won't run photoshop or Civ 5, but it gets the job done for surfing, emailing, watching, and office documents. If that's all you need, then I highly recommend them.
