If you get an android box make sure it is running Android Lollipop 5.0 or better, or it won't work on Kodi 17.0 or 17.1.

I also have the MXQ Pro box. Mine have an S905 chip, but the S905X chip is out now. I would search for one with it.

he said android
Android for Pi barely functions. You're more than likely using Libreelec or some other linux variant on Rpi

Xiaomi Mi Box
Next level up would be Nvidia Shield.

I didn't see where that was a prerequisite, but you can spend ~$10 and a get a USB ethernet adapter (ASIX AX88772 chipset preferably)

Every Android device that looks like this

Is pure crap.
Not even in the same ballpark with Fire TV and Nvidea Shield.

shite, the Firestick performs twice as good as those boxes.
Do not trust the performance and hardware claims.
They are all Chinese crap.

I have one that looks like that and it runs Kodi fine. If my wife doesn't bitch about it, then it's good enough for me. I've used WatchESPN with it some. Only complaint is that I can't use the Dish Anywhere app on it.

I have one as well. Also have the little keyboard remote for it.
I also have 3 Fire TV's and one Nvidea Shield in my home.
I've made the piece of crap Android box the Bathroom TV box.

not even close to accurate. You just can't rely on the terrible android software loaded on these things. Install Ember or some other linux variant and they'll perform great.

Though, using a Xiaomi Mi Box is a better idea. You have stable firmware, a good Android TV experience, and runs Kodi/SPMC very well, in a very attractice price (relative to the Shield)
