Getting ready to do some traveling and so I dusted off my laptop and it needs a bit of an upgrade. It is a dell latitude e6410.

In order to get it some new life, I cleaned it out pretty well and I got a 120gb SSD. The boot time from the stock seagate 500gb is absolutely awful.

My plan is to boot windows from the SSD and just use my 2tb external drive for all of my media.

My question is regarding the transfer of microsoft office to the new harddrive. I know microsoft has changed some of their licensing rules, but do I have to uninstall office on the old drive, reinstall on the new drive, and then use the product key? Or can I just install office and reuse the product key.

How have you guys done it?

I believe you have 3-4 installs before it starts thinking you are up to something...

You can just download the version of Office you were using from the microsoft site and apply the key you were previously using. It's easy peasy, bruf.

If you have your current HD real clean and want to save yourself some time you can clone your HDD to your SSD.

That's what I would do.

I had 4 different machines I had to do and this saved me probably 12 hours of installing programs.
