I was 20 miles south of Lafayette and had to put my antenna in the attic to get CBS

Exactly what area of Lafayette? Most of the towers are north of town

You should be fine. Try and point your antenna north-northwest.

Do you think it'll need to be in attic?

I don't think so, honestly

Depends on if you put the antenna on the north side of your house with a window

Thanks for the help! So doing it that way, there would not be a way to hide the wires huh? I would just plug in whenever I want to watch locals?

So I just cut the cord, signed up for Directv now, Apple TV is on the way.

Bought a Fire TV, installed Kodi (which I feel mildly retarded using) and installed some add ons

I've got Fusion, exodus, sports devil, Phoenix, velocity, anything else I should look in to?

Also, do I have to install each individual repository for each app? After installing all of them I tried for like 30 min to get exodus to run before I realized that I missed the step of downloading it's repository.

No, Fusion will do. Fusion allows you to go into its repository and download Exodus, Phoenix, Velocity, etc.

Really depends. I have my antenna sitting behind my blinds and the wire isn't noticeable, but I'm in an apartment.

You should consider using one of the Coax cables ran for your previous cable as your home-run for OTA. Would make it really easy for you in the attic..won't have to drop a line.

It's in the 3rd or so post on this thread. Installing KODI without a CPU

It involves downloading ES File Explorer on your AFTV

This isn't really a cord 'cutting' setup but I thought I'd share it anyway. I guess it's more of an instance of cord shaving. Everything is installed and in use. I'm only a quick phone call away from disconnecting DirectTV. That will be done later today once I'm done chasing a toddler around.

Even with Directv I had Netflix, Hulu and Amazon prime. I'm dropping Directv and replacing it with Tivo and Directv Now. At the moment my monthly expenses are dropping from about $180/month to about $77/month. My goal is to get that down further but I want to see what I can live without (probably Hulu).

Upfront costs were about $750. However the antenna was bought about a year ago and I already had the fire stick but I'm counting them anyway.

$100 Clearstream 2V Antenna
$160 antenna install and some extra wiring
$230 Tivo Bolt 1TB
$150 Tivo Mino
$80 FireTv
$30 Fire Stick

Recurring costs:
Netflix $9
Hulu $8
Amazon prime $8 (monthly average)
Tivo service $12 (monthly average)
DirecTV Now with HBO $40

Living Room:
Tivo Bolt 1TB with OTA channels (annual subscription)
Fire TV

Master Bedroom:
Tivo Mini
Fire Stick

Remaining TVs in the house have OTA run directly to them from exterior mounted antenna. And 4 of these 5 TVs are samsung smart TVs so we can watch Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and HBO.

Looking for some help here

I hooked up my antenna in the attic and ran the cable to my existing directv splitter. I took the directv cable from the box and hooked it into the tv and scanned for channels. I am only getting one channel, WYES (PBS), but i get like 3 versions of it...

so is my signal not strong enough? I have the antenna pointed in the right direction. was thinking of getting a signal amplifier, if yall think that should solve my problem...

i ran some data and it looks like I am about 30 miles from the antenna sites, and my antenna is rated for 60 miles so that should be good.

by the way I am running like 6 tv's off of this but when i was looking for channels i only had one on at a time, not sure if that matters.

directv now will be offering 100 channel package for $35 starting tomorrow.

would this have local channels as well? I already have directv and its too freaking expensive so i started experimenting with hd antenna.... this would save me some hassle

Use a normal splitter and re-scan for channels. I *think* the directv splitter filters some frequencies.

look on the main page of this board. There is a multi page thread on the DTVNOW. No it does not include local channels. Not sure of any streaming service that does.

Question for any of you Eatel cord cutters. I currently have their Lightwave cable/internet with the Premium Internet Package, 100 download 50 up. When I "cut the cord" and keep my internet with them will I have to replace the router and modem they supplied me? Im reading several people have their own router and modem. Is this a must or will I be good with what I have?
