I am confused on should I buy a roku or Amazon fire TV for playstation vue. I see some say Amazon fire TV is better but just want to see what others thought before I buy a Amazon fire TV. I know roku is pretty popular also and they just got playstation vue not too long ago.

If you are hard wiring, get the Roku 2. It's like $10 more than the stick. If wireless, get the Roku 3.

If its something you are going to use a good bit, and change the channel on on Vue, don't get the stick.

Roku 3 has the headphone port in the remote...that is nice if you are up late watching TV and don't want to poke the bear....(I mean wake up the spouse).

Roku 2 is so slow. I would get a new FireTV that has 4k.

Just bought a new fire tv last week and have been very happy with it so far. I was using a first generation chromecast before and this is just so much smoother.

It isn't if it's hard wired.

I am not a fan of the FireTv that i just got. I hate the interface, the search, and it doesn't have all the apps that Roku has. No Vudu or Nickelodeon apps, not that a grown man cares about those, but those with kids do.

I will say in the brief time i've had the FireTv, the reliability of the stream seems better, especially on wireless. The Firetv is wireless AC, where as Roku is still on G or N or whatever the hell it is. And i think the Fire TV has a faster processor than the Roku.
Not that i've had issues with the Roku, but on rare occassions, even hard wired in, the stream on Vue or Sling or WatchESPN would buffer a time or two. Nothing to complain about since it would happen maybe once or twice a week for 2 or 3 seconds, but if that happened during an LSU game it would piss me off. In the 3 days i've had the Fire TV it has not done this little buffer.

at first i said the same thing. But it grew on me and i found out it is better than the roku interface. at least for me.

For me, I'm all about reliability of the feed I'm getting, mainly from Vue and WatchESPN.
That's why i got the fire tv, B/c researching it seems to have a better processor than the Roku 3, and it was cheap on Prime day compared to the Roku 4 and the nvidia.

I haven't researched the nvidia much, but I have a feeling it's something I'm going to want to get once it has Vue. What it can do with Plex would be helpful to me and it appears to have the best processor upon initial review.

Wireless G is plenty fast for PS Vue, recommended is only 10Mbps.
Wireless issues really only depend on the environment. Such as if you live in an apartment building with lots of other wireless devices.

We currently use FireTVs all connected over wireless N with very few issues.

I don't have any experience with rokus

If you're buying something for Vue, do not buy a roku, it's terrible. At least for now.

They are but playstation vue is not on Apple TV. Already having 2 apple tvs I didn't want to spend more money but apple TV only has sling TV and everybody keeps telling me playstation vue is way better.

Anyone tried it on an Android phone just casting to Chromecast?

Edit: never mind, the app doesn't work on rooted devices. Sony is really paranoid.

I just got Vue last night and I hate the interface on my Roku 3. It's just the standard "homescreen tiles" based interface and you have to go back to the homescreen to change channels. Poking around it looks like the PS4 has an actual cable style guide. Does Vue on the FireTV have a guide? Do you have to go to the home screen to get to it, or can you get to it from the remote while watching something?

The Fire TV does indeed have the same guide as a PS4
