Tablets with Droid Operating System

I'm looking for a good droid tablet for my son. I have just assumed it would be an IPad like mine but prefer droid operating system. Which one is best for student regarding function, toughness, ability to interface with pc's etc. I'm far from a computer person so any help is much appreciated. Also if the iPad is the one so be.

Yeah, I would just get him a laptop. Tablets are cool and all of that, but it can't replace the laptop quite yet. As far as ability to interface with PCs, your stuck to using similar apps and Google Drive.
