Syncing my TV controller to my Cox Box

So I got a Sony Bravia x800e yesterday, when syncing the remote to my Cox box it won't change the channel when looking at the guide. I used the IR blaster on the Cox box, but for some reason the TV guide that Sony has is different than the Cox guide.
Any help? Should I try to resync it again?
