have a gift card to wal mart and want a cheap tv for my kids to watch upstairs in the spare room and for guests

ive narrowed it down to a 43 inch vizio on sale for 299 and they also have a RCA 48 inch for 299

heres the rub. they have a black friday special 50 inch Element TV for $259. ive never heard of this brand and cant get any info online.

what do yall think? its for a 12x13 room and will be mounted. is 50 inch too big? would you go bigger less known brand for cheaper or $300 for 43 inch vizio?

It's borderline small. A good viewing distance for a 50 incher is around 7 feet.

I have an Element, it works great. There are only 5 companies that actually make screens for HD TVs. The quality is fairly equal across the board for the lower tier stuff.

Also, fwiw. When I used to deliver furniture and electronics, the only TV we ever swapped out were Vizios. To the tune of about 10 a week for almost three months. Their first line of E Series were atrocious. Screen died on every single dagnabbed one it seemed like.

Edit: Let me rephrase slightly, it was their guts, not the screens. It just looked like the screens died to those who didn't know much about the technology inside of them.

Honestly, in the spare bedroom in my old house I had a 32. Any bigger and it lights up the room too much at night and is obnoxious. It was 12x12 IIRC.

I like to fall asleep with the TV on, and a 50" TV would be like someone turned on the lights. My master now is 15x20, and the 32 was too small across the room. I couldn't see the guide. Put a 40 in, and it is perfect

If you're just sold on getting it at Wal-Mart, I would get the Vizio.

Was watching a Vizio on Thanksgiving and the dang thing went dark with no sound for about 5 minutes. 3 other Vizio owners chimed in and said theirs does that periodically too.

I will never own a Vizio.

ETA: I have a 32 inch Samsung in a room the same size as yours and it is the perfect size

You can buy food with the gift card and buy the tv anywhere else with your food money.

My last Walmart gift card did not work. Had to make several trips to get everything worked out.....
