I just bought 4 play 1s and 2 play 3s for sound throughout the house

If I get the sound bar and hook it via optical audio to my Tv, can I stream that on all the connected speakers?

Also, anyone have issues with speakers outdoors underneath the patio ?

Yes you can play the sound from your playbar to the other speakers. It's not "surround sound" but it's more like a connected Bluetooth or mesh network.

As for outside, I occasionally take my play 1 outside on my covered deck and I e heard of people leaving them out there. Just dunno how water RESISTANT they are or even humidity resistant. Dunno.

I think the Sonos speakers are too nice to leave outside. I have mounted speakers hooked up to a Sonos Connect with amp for outside. That way when the speakers break, I can replace them easily

Yes you can make different zones and rooms and mix and match. You can setup the playbar, a Sonos sub and two rear speakers as a 5.1 (the playbar is your center and front L/R channels) setup linked together. You can also tell the app to play sound on all zones or some zones or whatever you want. Great product.

I just purchased the surround sound set up and am very impressed. Starting to expand to other rooms. Very user friendly system.

Yea all speakers can work together or each individually.

I have a play 1 with stand. I keep outside. Stand was relatively cheap. LINK

I know someone who does well for themselves in order to purchase that collectively. I think combined that's like 1700-2000$.
Kudos sir, kudos!

ETA: Then dude links an 85$ Sonos Stand and says it's "relatively cheap". You sir, win. You're my favorite poster.

Q: What do you do?
Q2: Do you need an apprentice?

lol, the actual stand for the play 1 was cheap compared to the system.

Think you just need to find a new job brah.

Eh, I do ok. I just am married and have 2 kids. I last had a bunch of disposable income for myself the day before I was married. Ever since then... HA!

Not a lot of money consider what some people spend on just a AVR.

Question about the Sonos. If you are watching a football game from cable/sat box in the main zone and rebroadcast that signal to other zones is there a delay ?

I'm going to try this weekend.

From my understanding you can sync any speaker if there's a delay.

I just hooked up my turntable on the other side of the house with the connect amp. I know I won't get the true hifi but not having to deal with wires is worth it.

I must admit, I don't know 100% but what I've seen on the sonos forums is that some users do have a delay but it's miniscule. Enough to be annoying if your in ear shot of both zones though. So Sonos tried to resolve this by allowing users to tweak the settings and delays so they match. The issue becomes then you have to delay the TV picture, in case you were watching a comedy and the sound and lip movement weren't in synch.

I'm a sonos junkie.

Playbar sub and two 1s in the living room

Playbar sub and two 3s in he basement.

Random 1s around the rest of the house

I typically have TV in the living room synced with a 1 in the kitchen. Works great. My wife or I can watch TV from the kitchen while making dinner. It does get a little weird if you are equidistant from both sources but nothing that I can't deal with. I LOVE my sonos set up

Do you find a big difference between the 1s and 3s as surround sound?

I have two 3s in the mail and am considering replacing my 1s.

Then just spreading the ones throughout the house.

I do, but I don't know if that's a function of the speakers or the room.

The 1s are in my living room upstairs, which is an open floor plan to the kitchen and has higher ceilings etc. They also aren't optimally placed as they are just on shelves to get them away from my 10 month old.

The 3s are downstairs in the basement, mounted on the wall in the corners with lower ceilings etc. I definitely find myself "noticing" the surround a lot more frequently. Again, I'm not sure if that's placement or speakers, but I definitely notice it.

I think I will replace the 1s as my surround sound. I wouldn't mind a little more sound.

No doubt. It is excellent and I don't even have any other speakers hooked up to my TV. Got a couple of 1s in the rest of the house though.

Have either of you ever had a receiver along with surround sound? Is the sound comparable?

I so want to get rid of my receiver and swap to Sonos Surround sound.

I'm having my system installed this week. I asked this specific question.
If I want a game to be played on all speakers throughout the house, is there a delay? And if so, what is the best way to avoid the delay?

I have been told that the only way for you to avoid the delay is to have the playbar with the optical wire connected to the tv.
If you run a connect to your surround sound system without the playbar, there will be a delay to your other sonos speakers.

If I am wrong.... and you know for sure (not guessing).... someone please correct me!!
