Those things have to eat through batteries.

Cool product. Seems like it would be a little better if it stored video on the cloud, if someone takes the camera while robbing your house, you are SOL.

I did some research and this is actually a product made by the chipmaker (Innomedia I believe) that's powering the product believe it or not. They wanted to prove reliability, quickness and their ability to power high-spec products to hopefully spur other OEM's to use their chip to power future products.

There's also a huge swell of tech companies pushing products to disrupt the home security segment of home tech.

But these work off of a small wall outlet that's plugged into your WiFi. So one negative is, if you have a power outage and no generator, these are useless I'm pretty sure.

But they power on in fractions of a second based on movement. Otherwise they're in "sleep" mode which is why you get such long battery life (they're boasting a year on the site). You can store on board via a memory stick if you want to sort've hide these away from where would-be vagabond and ne'er do well types wouldn't see them, thus increasing your image capture length.

Otherwise there's up to 2 hours worth of 5-10 second clips that you can store at no cost as part of the purchase price. You can also look in live using an iOS app.

For $139 bucks for two this puts a camera on either of my entry doors in front and back of the house which have large amounts of glass right next to the single-sided deadbolt.

Would be an extremely cheap alternative that does send a basic alert via notification to your smartphone over the app anytime they detect motion and/or temperature spikes. No monthly cost and I would own the equipment. I'm also guessing down the road that I'd be able to make some mods or join them with additional security systems that utilize the "Internet of Things" (IoT).

Again, I need a reason not to buy...

Yeah, I was reading about this a couple of weeks back. If you do get it, let us know how it is. Thinking about installing a couple of these when I buy a home.

This. I would definitely like to know how well they function.

Two more negatives as I sit here at the office with an itchy trigger finger:

1.) New Product=No Reviews
2.) Won't ship till Fall

If you dig a little deeper, it's about 5.55 hours of actual recording.

The recording length is pretty short, only up to 10 seconds. It looks like it only works through their app, so what happens if they go out of business in 2 years? Too risking for me.
