Sms/mms issues with android

I have a s6 active. I tried to use google messages for texting, but it was not downloading mms messages and was also having issues with group messaging.

So I went back to the stock android messenger app. It has twice assigned random contacts to messages. Today, I typed in a number, and composed a text. After I hit the send button, two of my contacts popped up in the message as if they were part of a group message.

I have also had an issue with composing a message to a contact, and after I hit send, a completely different contact shows up as the person I'm messaging. However, the original intended recipient received the message.


I know this is probably a confusing post, so I guess I'm just wondering if there is any android messaging app that just plain works
