I have to buy a new TV for my bedroom. I'll probably get around a 50 inch and will primarily be streaming. Was thinking about going with one of the Roku TVs. Is it worth it to go 4K?

Thanks

Do not get a ROKU TV

Software is outdated compared to other ROKU Devices. You're better off buying a set-top box itself, rather than in a TV

Good to know, thanks. I've never had Roku before, just Apple TV.

That was a concern of mine. I guess the thought is more will be available in the future.

I bought a 72" Vizio non 4K a year ago from Sams. The only thing I'm disappointed in is the "Smart TV" doesn't have Watch ESPN or HBO GO.

you can solve that with a roku3 or fireTV both of which support 4K and eventually (hopefully!) both of those apps will start delivering content in that format.

:fingers crossed for ESPN first:

Ive got a top of the line, 65" curved, HDR, 4k, 3d TV. I think it is a js9000 , maybe 9500.

So far,

I dont use the HDR, I don't use the 3d, I don't care about the curve, and I BARELY use the 4k.

When I first got it I went to youtube and watched some 4k videos. That was cool. I also watched Daredevil in 4k - that was really cool. Since then - I haven't used it at all.

Now, I will say, I love my TV. I "believe" that all the 1080p content is upscaled to near 4k automatically -- and the picture is truly stunning.

My rambling point - 4k is awesome, but Im not sure the content is there yet. I haven't even used any of the other "perks" of the TV. For the frugal shopper- maybe just get the best picture quality without the bells and whistles for now.

We just got a sweet deal on a open box 55" Sony 4K from Best Buy for our bedroom. Great TV well worth the $ 900.00 dollars.

I just got a 60 in 4k Vizio for 699 from Best Buy, 120hz, but not that big of a deal at the price point.

Was originally looking at a Samsung 4k 240 at 1300 but decided I wanted to save the money.

LINK

LG 60" 4k HDR 60UH7700 $1300 after tax. with the best buy card they did 0% for 36 months...

I just bought this from bestbuy last week and tbh I don't know much about tv's, but I think the smart apps/streaming controls are really good on this model. The menu is really easy to navigate.

Might be similar on other LG's.

Get an LG or Samsung. It will still be relevant 10 years from now.

I got a LG 49 Inch UH6100. It's 4k UHD HDR 120Hz. It's a pretty damn bad arse picture! Works especially well in my bedroom because I can get it dark in there.

Thanks for the advice!
