I'd wait. The screen was the only 'meh' feature of the Air I just got a few weeks ago. It wasn't terrible, it just wasn't great. If its an option, I'd wait for Retina display, but that's going to jump the price up I would assume.

I have 4 MacBook airs at my office on a shelf that are all broke! Flimsy pieces of shite.

Do you throw them at walls?

Trolls stepped on them.

I got mine last month when BB was running that Father's Day sale. Would def recommend getting one if you don't care about the retina. My Air essentially replaced my iPad 2.

No, I do IT consulting. Those are just the ones that other users broke. We keep them for parts.

No way. There may be an offering of a MB Air with Retina and a standard, non Retina MB Air with the Retina model being more expensive. There is no way Apple is going to only release Retina Airs with a higher entry price. No way that happens.

if you had to send your laptop back to square trade for the same problem 3 time theres a lemon provision that allows for full refund on purchase price

Likely we'll see standard Airs with Broadwell processors slapped in there for an upgrade, and the premium "retina" Air like you said.
If Apple could merge the iPad with the Macbook Air and have a 12-13 inch high-ppi touch screen and a fanless design for the Broadwell CPU, detachable keyboard with trackpad, and a seamless OS X to iOS interface transition (PC mode to tablet mode), and keep that shite under $1300, they'd have an ultrabook killer. Hell I'd probably buy one.

My 2011 MBA is the best computer I've ever owned.
I wouldn't wait. They just bumped the specs a couple months ago and the next intel chipset just got delayed again until 1H 2015.

Knowing Apple, this won't happen for a long time, if ever.

They did do that with the retina MacBook pros, but I agree they won't do that with the Airs. Just my feeling on it.

I could swear that when Apple released the Retina MBP for the first time it also released a standard, non Retina MBP at the usual price.
ETA: The 13" MBP still comes in a non Retina model to this day.
That's what they will do with the Air.
The 11" will stay the entry level Air and there won't be a Retina model at all. The 13" Air will have a non Retina model and a more expensive Retina model.

One rumor says the Retina Air will be 11.88", which would make sense. The retina iPad air is 2048x1536 (4:3 aspect ratio). The 11.x" Macbook air screen would likely remain 16:9, so at the same vertical resolution it would be 2732x1536, and an 11.88" screen would give it the same PPI as the iPad. Or they could just have a 13in version and bump it up to the same 2560x1600 that's on the 13in MBP, but that may cut into MBP sales.
