Samsung UN55J6200 TV Refresh Rate Question

First off, sorry for the long post.
Bought a new Samsung UN55J6200 TV on Thanksgiving for ~$600 from Best Buy (regular $1000) for a new house we are building.
Decided last week to hook up the TV to make sure it was in good working order before the Jan 15th return/exchange deadline. TV looks great and all was well..
Over the weekend while watching the NFL Wild Card games I realized the picture would have these weird fuzzy spots and a little bit of blur but didn't really think anything of it.. Watched a couple of action movies and it looked great..
Well, after last night’s Nat Champ game I realized I either have a defective TV or the Samsung “True Motion 120” rate is full of shite.. Had a mixture of on and off blur and the screen would sort of jump at times. According to CNet the True Motion 120 could be anywhere from 60hz to 120hz true refresh rate. (make sense?)
Is the above mentioned TV all it’s cracked up to be and I got a lemon or should I shop for a different/better TV with an actual 120HZ refresh rate?

I don't think those exist.

That's what I'm realizing after doing some research this morning which is why I'm asking you guys.

120hz tvs to exist. Plenty of them actually
What you have, the "tru motion 120" is just a 60hz tv and with the tru motion setting (interpolation, which just creates it's own extra frames and gives it that soap opera look) turned on gives it a fake 120 hz
You gotta watch those tv companies and their fancy terms for refresh rates. You want to check for the native refresh rate

Yeah, there are a lot of TVs on the market right now that show "120HZ*" that really aren't. It's very misleading as they use the TV's processor to the generate a fake refresh rate.
I returned the Samsung and purchased the Sony X810C. Seemingly better specs with 4k and native 120Hz

yeah you bought a 60hz tv, which sucks..
I bought a 55 sony not too long ago, even though i went with the intent of getting a 60 or 70. Realized that the 60 or 70's i was willing to pay for were 60hz, so i decided to get the 55" Sony that had 120 hz with motion rate of 960. sporting events are crystal clear all the time.
if a tv is cheap, it's b/c it's a 60hz tv more than likely. Price is most reflective of the native rate and then the motion rate.

you would be surprised at how many ~expensive TVs are 60hz that produce a fake refresh rate.
TV companies are so focusing on color that they are giving up on speed.. The current technologies should be able to handle both at a much cheaper ticket item than what's available now.

I know what you mean. People see 70" tv for $899 and can't believe it.
I was choosing between a 55" Sony that had the 120 native and 960 motion, and a 60" Samsung 4k that I don't remember what the refresh rate was. They were the same price pretty much. They happened to be side by side at Best Buy and watching some nature crap, it was obvious the 4k was far superior, but when they put a soccer game on, it was obvious the 55" that i ended up getting was superior. The ball looked like a square on the 4k tv going across the screen.

In their defense, color is more important in the grand scheme of things
While a higher refresh rate can help, mainly in respect to showing movies that have 24 frames per second, it might make a small difference with sports and all that. When you have a 120hz tv it just shows each frame 5 times as compared to 60 hz it rotates between 2 times and 3 times per frame. Nothing his filmed for tv at a higher fps than 60. So technically all those 240 or 480hz tvs have it just to say they do
It's kinda like all the 4k stuff. 4k is great if you have 4k stuff to watch. But nothing is being filmed at 120 fps and likely won't be in any near future. However I say all this and I make sure to get 120hz tv just cause "it's better" so I could be just totally wrong
