Installed the ssd 2 months ago. twice now the computer has kicked it to 3rd boot drive but is main drive. sometimes it doesn't show in drive lineup at all after the kick back. any suggestions?

Is this in a desktop or laptop? If desktop, try using a different SATA port.
Other possibilities:
- Buggy bios. Maybe there's a bios update for your board.
- dead/dying/defective CMOS battery. Definitely the case if you're seeing date/time resets as well.
- dying SSD? always a possibility, but less likely
More info about the PC would be helpful, specifically the motherboard if it's a custom build, or specific model if it's a prebuilt or laptop.

Thermal armor... Always found that funny, and those boards ugly. I wanna see traces, transistors, and chokes dammit.
Is this OP's board or what?

Look in the very middle of that board. They lost me with that tiny fan, which might well be the loudest fan in my system, and it's only necessary because of the armor. The only worthwhile part of those kits isn't even shown, and that's the dust covers for all the slots, ports, etc. There's also a backplate which improves rigidity, but I've never damaged a board without one, so even that's dubious. I have the Micro-ATX version of that board, the Gryphon Z87, but I bought it without the armor, which was optional.

Thats my board fool.
I love it with the armor. Its a good board despite its looks. Except for that noisy arse little fan.
Not the OPs board. Im just a hijacking jackass assassin.

I knew it was noisy. The smaller the fan, the more concentrated the evil.

Thanks for the info. Its a desktop. switched the SATA port. no system time resets or lag (cmos). waiting to see what happens now.
