I've had the phone since last year. I've read up on rooting but I have some questions. I've tried reading XDA but they make my head spin.
I'm still running 4.2.2 and MF3. Should I upgrade to the newest KitKat before I try to root?
I'm very low on space, like <500MB on the phone; does upgrading to KitKat take up more space?
How would I go about getting NC1 before rooting?
I'd like to do the Towelroot APK so any help is appreciated.

The easiest way to get to NC1 is to use Odin to update to NB1 and then update to NC1 with stock recovery. Instructions can be found here LINK

Do I need to clear any space before doing this? Is 500MB enough room?

not just for storage, but for rooting you need an sd card to hold the files for flashing, etc. You generally do a wipe of the phone prior to flashing, so you want to start saving everything to the cloud or the sd card prior to messing around with rooting and what not.

Easy killer. Got a 64GB card. Can I move the bloatware to the SD?
