Rooting Android phone

I have an LG G3 and it is starting to get a bit choppy. I am thinking of rooting it to get rid of a bunch of the junkware and opening up the possibility to some freebies. I have experience jailbreaking iPhone, but not rooting Android.
A) is it a difficult/dangerous process?
B) which Rom would you recommend?
TIA

There should be a well defined and documented process for rooting the G3 at this point.
I go look for your version of the G3 on the xda developer forums....that is usually where you can get the most concise directions.

With the age of the G3, there's probably a "one-click" solution out there. Generally you'll have to download the drivers and a few files, then run a program that does all the work. Developers have taken all of the difficult/dangerous steps out of it.
I haven't checked in a while, but a newer phone, like the G4 , doesn't have a one-click solution yet, so it's a lot more difficult and dangerous.

I paid a neighborhood kid $20 to root two phones. His older brother had to drive him because he didn't have his DL yet. It took him about 30 minutes for both phones but most of that was spent setting up a new gmail account.

I believe this is what I used to root mine. There might be more recent solutions on xda that have come about in recent months.

I then flashed CloudyG3 and like it well enough.
