Ive seen some robotic vac threads on here, thought Id share my experience.

Got the Roomba 980 for christmas for our living areas, kids bedroom, office, kitchen, and dinning room. Vast majority is hardwoods with rugs and the kids room has carpet.

Its been in use for a little less than a month. The only extra cleaning has been mopping. We have two dogs that shed a lot. We would have to vacuum or use the floor duster at minimum every two days. Very happy with it an recommend.

The only negatives, it get stuck in a routine where it cleans the same area over and over for twenty minutes, it gets itself stuck in some hard to reach places(not sure how it got in there in the first place), and have to empty the container 2-3 times for 1-2 hour cycle. Its not an item we could run the entire time while away from the house for that reason. But you can leave for an hour or so and be fine

Other side effect has been a significant drop in dust around the house as well

Good and bad, When I said above it gets stuck in place you wouldnt think it fits. it mostly under the dinning table. Although this happens like maybe once a week(Runs daily). However when it doesnt get stuck it cleans anywhere it can fit.

Also, it sucks up quarters, soft dog toys and even sucked up a 4 inch strip of nails for my nail gun. so its got some juice

I have a d80. It gets under the legs, and does the back up motion and lifts off the ground when it gets in there. Always comes out though.

I had to do a couple of things to my house to get it to run a full cycle without fricking up, but it is working fine now. I have a black lab and track dirt and stuff inside a lot, and only have to empty it once every two days. Does about 1000sqft of absolutely not square space in an hour.

If I pick it up and move it, the thing gets lost when it tries to go back to the charger. If I just let it go, it comes back every time

That's really annoying. How do you know it's time to empty? I have mine run 3 times a week and sometimes I'll forget to empty it for two or three weeks. It's jam packed when I do empty it but I've never noticed more dirt being left on the floor.

And just a waning... You'll probably have to replace the battery in the not too distant future if you're running it every day. I read some reviews that complained about that and I bumped my schedule down from 5 days a week to 3.

My dogs shed a lot and we have a dog door to the back yard, it picks up a lot. Like I said we couldn't go two days before without cleaning floors. And that was bad.

It first beeps, then says full, also you can see on your app. If it's too full it goes home

I'll update on the battery if it goes, but I'd prefer clean floors.

As for the getting stuck, it's when hits the maze of chair legs in the dinning room. six of my chair leg sets are about a half inch wider than the roomba.

I have a Roomba 780 (I think). Haven't used it in a couple of years because our rooms just don't accommodate it. Couches are just slightly too low to the ground for the roomba to consistently travel under it (it gets snagged sometimes), and with two young kids in the house there's just too much general clutter at random points of the week. It inevitably gets confused or jammed unless conditions are perfect.

I actually put slightly taller legs on one of my couches so my neato d80 could get under there, after that no issues with it cleaning the living, dining, kitchen, breakfast area, half bath, and laundry room without needing any assistance. The D80 filter box is pretty big, but I clean it out after every 2-3 runs.

We use that as an excuse to pick up the room every night.

i need to empty mine daily (i often forget). i have a huge heavy shedding dog tho. it will run a full cycle without emptying. i've been running mine m-f for over a year and battery is still good.
