I have a spread out floor plan and my office is all the way across the house from the den. I have a few smart tvs, laptops, tablets and smart phones. Mostly surf but do some streaming and gaming on occasion.

I currently have a dlink dir 800 series and it was working ok. It's a few years old and I think it's dead from dust when I put some wood floors in.

Any advise is appreciated.

I'd connect one or more ubiquiti Unifi Access points to your network. Very simple and work very well.

If you are moderately handy you can probably run your Ethernet wires from you existing router to the access points yourself.

They include hardware to ceiling mount them as well. Several people on the board use them.

I ended up giving in and buying an apple airport extreme after dicking around with my other ones having to power cycle then to reset fairly often. It's been awesome. It will reach out to my shop with plenty of signal for my wireless music and small in home computer work I do out there.

And I'm not an apple fan boy by any means. shite just works great

I just installed the Eero system.
It is fantastic and I have never had faster wifi in my house (3 level townhouse).
It is very simple to install and had it up and running in about 10 minutes.
