Question about using TD on iPhone 6+/iOS 8

How do I save a gif from the mobile website to my photos folder?
Tried long press and save image and it only saves a still photo of whatever frame it was on when I clicked. Is there a way to save the full gif from a thread here, or am I just SOL?
Feel stupid asking this but thought yall might be more useful than the help board.

It probably saves the full gif, but you're having trouble viewing it. Tried opening it with a different app?

I tried opening it in a 3rd party photo viewer, tried saving a different gif in case the original I tried was corrupted somehow, and tried uploading it to imgur and reposting and keep only seeing the same still photo frame.

Yea I mean I was just testing it with gifs from the OT GIF thread this morning, but only can post it as the image

Hmm... Yeah doesn't seem to work to direct save.
Weird, copy works fine though. Even tried copying, texting to myself and saving from text. Doesn't work either.

This is weird as shite, and I don't understand the point. Why does it extract a still from the gif and save only that, rather than just download the whole file? And it saves the frame that you clicked on? Jesus. I can't imagine a single use for such a feature.

It doesn't necessarily save the frame that I was on when I long pressed to get the save image pop up button...it seems as though it may save either the first or last frame and still can't figure out why. From what I have found experimenting it does this across the entire OS. Tried saving a gif from reddit comments via the alien blue app (it has its own save image button, not needing you to long press the gif, but am still only getting a still image saved.
Google the issue and all lkl the videos I found seem to refer to older ios versions. Very frustrated and confused v

I've been having this issue for a few years now. Even with iOS8, I still can't get gifs to save to my phone. Copy and paste into texts or web browser is easy, but for some reason the whole gif won't save. Not sure what the solution is.
