So when I got my new phone, I purchased an adapter to connect to the speaker I had at my work desk. However, the speakers and phone won't "talk" to one another. Instead, the speaker unit now functions as a bulky phone charger...nothing more.

I've decided to look into a portable bluetooth speaker for my desk. I don't need anything too expensive, just looking for something with decent sound quality that will last.

Seems like every manufacturer has one nowadays - Bose, JBL, Skullcandy, Beats, Jawbone. Anyone have any of these or suggestions?

I like the UEBoom sound wise, but i blew it in a few weeks.

They all sound pretty crappy TBH, I just bought the Cygen on amazon, it's pretty crappy, but only 50 bucks.

The Bose soundlink mini is pretty good. Only downside is that you can't make calls on it and it is 200$

Now a cheeper speaker I've heard good things about is the Oontz angle 38.88 on Amazon prime, or the Oontz XL 84.99 on Amazon Prime. Now it's not as good as a portable speaker you would get for 200$+ but from what I've heard they are both good for the price. Again this is what I hear from other people not from my own experience. Just something else to consider.

I went to a conference and the guy had a JBL hooked to his laptop for videos. I thought it sounded awesome. I'm getting on of those. The flip 2's are 79.99 on Amazon.

Bought the Oontz last Christmas for my wife to use in her office, she loves it. I recently received the Bose mini from my wife's company at an event. It is pretty good and very portable.

I don't need to make calls on it. It will be strictly for listening to music from my phone.

I don't think I'll have to worry about blowing the speakers either since I'll be only using it in the office. So I won't have it too loud. I may look into the Oontz speakers.

I did see that Walmart is putting the Beats bluetooth speaker on sale for Black Friday....I wonder if that deal will be available online as well.

I had a JBL Flip that I bought refurbished on eBay for $40. Had it for about a year before it stopped charging, it still works if the speaker is plugged into the charger. I bought a Flip 2 after the first one died and am listening to it as I type this so I would recommend it.

That being said I think the Jams and some other brands will be onsale for Black Friday.

I have jawbone big jambox and love it. I got it on sale and with 25% off coupon at target so it didn't have to spend too much on it. I have a larger system that I cannot use in my apartment because my neighbors would hate me and this does a great job for music/tv/movies. If you are getting it for the office look into the smaller one.

eta: the speaker phone is amazing on the big jambox. I've been using it for interviews and everyone says it is crystal clear

I know people will laugh at this, but I have a little I World speaker that I keep in the bathroom. Sounds pretty good for less than $20.00.

Look at the TDK, yes the old cassette company, Life on Record line up. I have the two speaker jam box and it's really well made. They have smaller offerings that I'm sure are quality.

Bose mini, unbelievable the sound that comes out of the speaker. This if you got 199 to drop on a speaker. The bass tone at low sound levels of volume are crazy. Great for a office or can fill a large room.

I've tried out a lot of them, and I mean A LOT of them and to me and my girlfriend this sounded the best. Never had pairing issues or have blue tooth dropped. A year later it's still working perfectly.
