Here is the only article I've seen about it.

quote:
Playstation Vue, one of the many streaming TV options available, and one that I personally have subscribed to for months, announced updates today to the service’s package lineup. Going forward, Playstation Vue has eliminated the Slim package lineup in favor of a more standardized nationwide line. That, unfortunately, means a price increase for customers thinking of signing up for a Slim package or who currently subscribe to one. The Slim packages used to be available to those in markets where Vue didn’t have access to live local channels (like Portland!). The packages were $10 cheaper, which made sense, since they lacked channel options of the non-Slim packages. But going forward from today, Playstation Vue is doing away with the $10 discount and the Slim lineup. That means all new customers will pay an increased price, even if they don’t get live local networks. It also means that current customers on Slim packages, will see an increase in 3 billing cycles.

quote:
The non-Slim prices are not increasing and will be the only options nationwide. If you are on a non-Slim plan, you can continue on paying your current monthly price.

Not as bad as the OP is making it out to be.

Umm yes it is.

Not every package is increasing in price

My access package is still listed at the same price

Like the article I posted said, it effects people who don't get local channels on vue

At least read what you posted

quote:

This is the price that subscribers who lived in select areas paid in the past, but now it seems all PlayStation Vue subscribers pay. We have changed the location on PlayStation Vue’s website to areas with no locals and it still shows this new higher price for their packages.

All of the steaming services are losing money at the price points they have now. All of them will continue to raise prices. And just wait til Trump gets net neutrality done away with.

Why would anyone continue to stream when they can pay the same price for DTV or dish? They keep raising prices and they'll fold for sure.

Streaming was pretty big inconvenience to me with less features and way less channels.. why would I continue to stream if price point is basically the same?

For most people getting internet and streaming service is cheaper and a better option. DTV with ATT internet isn't a viable option for a lot of people. Plus its still satellite.

People don't want to pay for channels they don't want, pay to rent dvr boxes and have their rates changes after a year or so.

I hate playing the games every two years which makes streaming better for me in the current environment given how easy it is to move from one service to another and have no device changes.

At this point I'm more looking at other streaming options in the next 3 months before I go back to DTV and shitty AT&T internet. I was out of contract with DTV and had AT&T's fastest package. Changed to Vue and Comcast 300mbps and saved over $100 a month, plus got the internet rate locked in for 3 years.

Streaming may continue to increase prices, but I'm still very much in the black.

AT&T internet where I live is like 8mbps down. So bundling them with DTV just isn't fisable.

Check my update in the how to watch thread on the SB. If you go with them make sure you email them about paying with paypal.

So if they are getting rid of the Slim packages and the Slim packages existed for areas without local channels, does that mean they'll be rolling out local channels soon, or they just felt they couldn't maintain their pricing? I'm not sure I'd want to pay $10 a month for the locals, but I do feel the lack of live local is a pretty big hole and reduces how often I use Vue.

Why shouldn't I just switch to Sling TV?

That is when the NFL starts back up so it'd be pretty big, especially if the others didn't have them.

It's not that much cheaper. You still need to have access to both the red and blue lineup, which is still $45 I think.

I've given up on the streaming services. They aren't that different from cable packages now.
Netflix, antenna, and my dad's log in for ESPN and Foxsports is all I need.
I could care less what anyone thinks about me using my dad's log in. I pay his cell phone bill, he pays for me to have access to ESPN's and Foxsports.

I'm at the point where i will only use netflex and prime, family enjoys these, for most of the year then turn the streaming services on from sept to feb 1 for football season. They say good things dont last forever but dang could we at least have had a year or two of descent priced streaming services They will be getting canceled in the next week or two well until sept

technically, you get a $5 discount when you bundle the orange and blue line ups. so you end up paying $40 instead of $45. not that big of a discount, but at least its something.

and since we're all worried about our sports channels, mainly for our college football games, all espn channels including the SEC network are included in the orange lineup which is only $20. that seems like a deal unless you have to have your fox sports as well which is part of the blue lineup. like you, those channels are just as important as espn channels to some people. i could care less about them.

a plus side for me is that amc is included in both lineups so i still get to watch the walking dead live as well. the orange package along with netflix seems like the best deal to me.
