Plex with Plex Pass will do it

Running the antenna to my computer, which is my plex server, isn't really an option, unless I lived in a trailer and didn't mind exposed cables running along my walls and ceiling.

Get a network tuner.

Sorry, misread your post.

A network tuner connects to your antenna and your network with an Ethernet cable.

So just run another coax line from the antenna in the attic to a coax jack in that room by the Plex server. In my house I have coax connected to an antenna in every room and then a second coax jack in the office that comes from Cox's line for my cable modem.

I mean, I'm not sure how you were expecting to stream OTA content to your devices without connecting an antenna somewhere.

Just a suggestion that your antenna isn't any good. I live in Zachary and get like 30 channels OTA including stuff from Laffy. I use cox internet, indoor antenna from Amazon and vue.

I have cathedral cielings everywhere. I cannot physically run a cable to my desktop computer, which is my plex server, and I'm not moving the computer to the middle of my living room.
The only cables I have dropped are in the living room and kids rooms.

And this would cost $400+, which I'm not doing.

If the room with the Plex server has walls that are on the outside of your house, then you could always run it outside of your house.

Regardless, an app with the features you desire does exist, but it's not magic and can't suck television content out of the air without an antenna and tuner.

My router is not next to my tv or plex server. My tv is not near my plex server.
I already have a cable to my tv from the antenna. I want to do my dvring right there, and I don't want to pay $400+ to do it. I'm not interested in streaming my recordings.

I'm betting there will be an app that can record your antenna channels soon. That's what I want.

Yeah. I want to record and watch at the same tv. Not interested in connecting to my internet, or my computer. And I'm not interested in paying hundreds of dollars to do it.

So you just want a regular DVR? Well, yeah... there are tons of DVR products out there, but nobody's giving them away for free. Closest you can get is running Plex on the $200 nVidia Shield streaming box (the Plex app on the nVidia Shield is both client and server too, so you could keep it by your TV), but you need to pay for Plex Pass as well.

You guys are burying the lead with all of your antenna talk. Did CBS really keep the streaming rights to sports and their local affiliate channels can only broadcast them OTA? If that's true the affiliates should be raising hell if they're getting locked out of sports and new shows like their new Star Trek series.

This is what I want to know. I plan on getting the free week of Hulu Live Tv sometime this week to try out this weekend for Week 1 of NFL.

I figured Hulu was the best option because I already use Hulu so part of the subscription is a sunk cost, and they are the only service that lists that they have both Fox and CBS affiliates so I can watch Saints games.

If the streaming services can't stream the local (or any) NFL games then I have no use for them until the Pelicans start.

It would appear so.

I just read a press release from Hulu saying that ALL NFL games will be available from CBS:

quote:

CBS’s preeminent sports programming, including the NFL on CBS (all preseason, regular and post-season games broadcast on CBS) and the NCAA DIVISION I MEN’S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP will also be offered on the new service

LINK

Then I read this from Hulu;

quote:

Your Hulu with Live TV subscription gets you access to nationally broadcast games across NBC, CBS, FOX, and ESPN. That means that in addition to the action on Sunday afternoon, you’ll also be able to catch the games on NBC’s Sunday Night Football and ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcasts. Locally televised games will also be available depending on your location and may be subject to blackouts and regional availability.

LINK

So it looks like nationally televised NFL games will be available and local games depend on blackouts and other bullshite.

Smack in the middle of Baton Rouge. Not allowed to have an outdoor OTA.

Everyone in the USA is allowed to have an outdoor antenna per the Federal - Over the Air Reception Device Rules (OTARD).

Q: What types of antennas are covered by the rule?

A: The rule applies to the following types of antennas:

(3) An antenna that is designed to receive local television broadcast signals.

In addition, antennas covered by the rule may be mounted on "masts" to reach the height needed to receive or transmit an acceptable quality signal (e.g. maintain line-of-sight contact with the transmitter or view the satellite). Masts higher than 12 feet above the roofline may be subject to local permitting requirements for safety purposes. Further, masts that extend beyond an exclusive use area may not be covered by this rule.

Cal / UNC was on the ACC network which was carried on WatchESPN. I watched Brandon Harris' glorious return to college football in its entirety.

Sounds like you should have looked harder.

Edit: just pulled it up on the watch espn app.

I have what is supposed to be an 80 mile antenna and the transmiter is like 25 miles away. Can't get CBS unless I walk that sucker completely outside. Attic doesn't work either.

I'm not gonna be that guy that throws up an ugly arse antenna outside.

Back to cable for me. Never had an issue with it except for cost, but having given cord cutting a serious run the last few months, the extra cost is worth it to me.

I agree

I mean, I respect the guys who are like, "sign up for this free trial" or "install this in your attic and take it down after the game," but I like just knowing that I'll get every game I want to watch without any hassle.
