Does it call you or make a text? I know monitoring probably doesn't do much but at least I know for a 100% chance someone will pick up the phone.

Also can you have it Armed
While you're home?

I disagree. If you have a family having a monitored alarm can make all the difference in the world in the event of an emergency.

House is on fire with your wife in kids inside. Alarm automatically sends help.

Wife gets a gun put to her head while getting grocery out the car and is forced inside. She walks inside and instead of disarming the alarm with her normal code she enters her distress code. Boom help is automatically on its way. While your kids are being zip tired the cops so up before they watch mommy get raped.

Mommy is home watching Dr. Phil and overdoses on Xanax and boxed wine. Kids can walk up to the alarm keypad and hit the emergency button. EMS is on the way to save the day.

There are so many emergency situations you can be in where a monitored alarm can be a hero. Sending a text to daddy's phone is cool but it can't always send help in the event of an emergency.

Its a fricked up world outside of the Brentwood bubble brah. I've seen some crazy video footage on recorders over the years.

Has any body setup a "robot" to trigger based on an ecobee3 sensor?

For example, if my bedroom temperature rises above X setting (or more like X degrees above the thermostat sensor), turn on the ceiling fan.

Or make use of the occupancy detection to trigger some event.

I'm in the 37069. The only crime in my area is dogs stealing newspapers.

Is there anyway to make an ifttt trigger only at a certain time?

My goal is to have a HUE bulb turn blue at 6am if rain is expected that day and then turn off an hour or so later.

Have you looked into stringify? You can do a lot more things than ifttt. Available on iphone. In open beta on android.

Android beta version sucks. Weather, traffic, and time strings didn't work more times than they did.

I downloaded the app but can't figure out how to string things together. I guess this is part of the problem. Looks like it has potential though.

I'm assuming your phone needs to be running in order for this stuff to work? Does that eat up battery life?

No, it runs in the cloud just like Wink does(minus local control), so no phone needed. A lot of wink users love it as it picks up where Wink robots fail. Setting up flows does have a learning curve, and I still haven't bothered to learn it properly.

i didnt have a problem creating strings, they just didnt work half the time.

To create them you just add the "things" you want. Like the clock and traffic. So say you want a traffic update sent at 5:00. You drag each "thing" into one of the bubbles, configure each (for example you click the gear on the clock and select 5:00 pm Monday - Friday), and then drag a yellow line between the two to connect them.

I figured out how the basic concepts but can't figure out how to only make an action happen if it's between a certain time. On some of the prepaid flows they show you linking to the line between to things but mine won't connect.

Well I randomly got it to link the time into the flow line by a stroke of luck. It seems like it is very precise with dragging and dropping things. When I went to enable it I got a timeout error. I think I'll leave this one along until they get a little more serious with the Android App.

I get they say it's in beta version. But it's a terrible beta and not worth anyone's time at the moment. I imagine the iOS version is a lot more stable because it's been out longer.

The local home depots here have dropped the Wink hub prices to 18.03. If anyone is in the market for the original, keep your eye out for one.
