Just rebuilt my PC. New mobo, CPU, RAM, Cooler, GPU, etc...

Runs great. Runs cool.

The issue is, every time I power it on, it posts, then shuts off. Power it on again, and it posts and boots right up and runs perfectly fine until I shut it down.

Then it will repeat... Power on, Post, Shut down. Power on second time, post, boot right up.

Any ideas?

Who's mobo and what CPU? When I power mine on (which I built earlier this year) it powers, turns off and then powers itself back on and boots.

7700K and Gigabyte Gaming 7 mobo.

Something in the bios settings. Try turning off fast boot.

Possibly a BIOS auto tuning feature is turned on.

Sounds like something is triggering the bios to reset. Possibly detecting a power issue, maybe thinking the machine didn't power off correctly. After you shutdown and restart see if it will let you into bios before it powers off and see if there's any indication of an issue. Also, try to reset if you have a physical reset on the power supply.

After that I'd say frick it and just live with it, but my mobo and bios experience is lacking.

Turn off fast boot and also if you are running Windows 10 try a fresh install.

I have had updates in Windows 10 make my PC act funny on boot up. Last one was just a few weeks ago where every time I booted my PC it automatically went into disk check. I tried 4 different ways to get it to stop that I found on the internet and none worked, but a fresh install sis the trick.

ETA: I am a dumbass!!! Went back and re-read your OP and your PC is not even getting into Windows trying to boot.

to me!!

Try updating the BIOS. It's probably the motherboard, but without another to use to test I don't know how you'd verify that.

What are your RAM specs, and did you set them in the bios correctly?

I bought GSkill RAM that was on the ASUS Compatibility List for that motherboard and set it to what their doc showed. Actually I just set it to XMP, and it set itself to what their doc showed.

So last night I went in to the BIOS and changed the Boot Priority from Windows Boot Manager to my Samsung 830 SSD, and that is looking like that may have done it.

Not sure I understand why that would fix it though.

I had a problem similar to that, but I don't think it POST'ed so I might be off base here. My problem was the power supply would kick in, fans light up, LEDs on MB would light up and then nothing. Turns out I had a loose power connector on the MB. I re-seated EVERYTHING and by dumb stroke of luck I found it. Just my 2 cents worth.

Odds are it's changing something in the bios every time it boots, like it's forgetting a setting momentarily. That's frequently a result of trying to detect RAM compatibility which is why I asked. But if it's set to XMP it shouldn't be a problem. You could always try different DIMM slots or manually setting the RAM specs instead of XMP, but I don't expect that it will solve the problem. In older boards that used non-native controllers for some of its SATA ports, it would double-post if any devices were plugged into the non-native ports. Best to start with the barebones/default bios settings, and also make sure bios version is latest, which I assume you already did both those things.

Actually have not done a whole lot of troubleshooting yet. I need to verify that I am on the latest BIOS. I usually never upgrade the BIOS unless I am having an issue. Like now.

I had that issue a couple of years back (older setup than what you are talking about). I swapped out the power supply (upgraded it since I was having to go through the trouble) and it never happened again.

I appreciate the suggestion, but this is a brand new 1050 Watt power supply that I tested with a tester before installing so I seriously doubt that could be it.

Have not had time to do heavy troubleshooting yet. Maybe this weekend.

Maybe it's something with the overvolt protection in the bios? I used to have a kind of similar problem and turning it off solved if
