Apple is starting production on its next-generation iPhones, reports Bloomberg, and the new models are equipped with Force Touch capabilities. Force Touch, first introduced with the Apple Watch, is a feature that's able to distinguish between a light tap and a harder press, enabling a range of new gestures.
The two new iPhones will retain the same 4.7 and 5.5-inch display sizes, with an exterior design that's largely unchanged. KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has suggested the addition of Force Touch could make the iPhone 0.2mm thicker, but it is unclear if that rumor is accurate.
Apple Inc. has started early production of new iPhone models with a feature called Force Touch, which senses how hard users are pressing down on a screen, people with knowledge of the matter said.
Its newest iPhones, in the same 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch versions as the current iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus devices, will have a similar exterior design, the people said. Volume manufacturing is scheduled to ramp up as soon as next month, they said.

NO WAY. DO NOT WANT.
But seriously, this is cool, but just kinda meh.
My biggest desire for the iPhone form factor is to get rid of the top and bottom bezel. Clearly there are better alternatives for the home button and speaker/forward camera.

they should make the home button to just tap not click like you do with the mouses on the laptop

Thicker iPhone plus is actually a good thing. Would make it harder to bend. I will just be upset if they have to redesign the mophie

When I switched to Nexus 6 from 7 years of iPhones, I was afraid the lack of a physical home button would be the thing I missed most, but it instantly became one of my favorite design features. I think Apple is realizing the home button is unnecessary. Wouldn't be surprised if it's nixed this year.
Physical home buttons make a phone look outdated to me now. The pill-shaped button on the Samsungs are especially horrific IMO.

As an Android user, the lack of a back button on the iPhone kills me. It just seems to handcuff the navigation. Does it bother iPhone users, or is it not a big deal since you never had it?

I use the back button on my Android all the time.
I never even thought about having one on the iPhone let alone miss it.

I agree, extra thickness would make it easier to hold on to. The 4/4s were about perfect thickness wise.

I doubt it, because they scan your fingerprints now.

I think the crossover point will be when they can make any point in the screen recognize a fingerprint. Otherwise I doubt they get rid of the home button any time soon.
As a side note, I really like how more apps are using it. Especially like my Discover and Mint apps where I'd certainly want a pass code, but typing a password everytime was a pain.

That would be a poor reason to keep an unnecessary space hog/extra point of failure. The fingerprint scanner can be moved. Phones without physical home buttons put the scanner on the back, so your index finger can just as easily swipe over it when you pick up the phone. The Nexus 6 was originally going to have one on the back as well.
EDIT: Even better...

It looks like that's the goal:
in the past 3 years, Apple has acquired 26 patents from biometric security company Privaris, which specializes in integrating fingerprint readers into touchscreens

I liked the thickness of the 5/5s the best

You're really supposed to use it with a case. That was never more apparent than with my 5th gen iPod Touch, which I couldn't imagine using naked. It had the protruding camera and was of comparable thickness to the iPhone 6 two years earlier. It's not pleasant to use it without a case, and I knew I would be dropping the slippery thing regularly.
On the plus side, the thinness makes it lighter, and it's been a delight to use inside my Griffin Reveal case, which has rubberized edges for a sure grip.

Hopefully USB C will be the port to rule them all.
