New Malware Can Infect iPhones Out of the Box,

Security firm Palo Alto Networks recently discovered what it's calling a new family of iOS malware that's capable of infecting non-jailbroken (stock) devices. It's being dubbed AceDeceiver and according to the firm, it's the first iOS malware they've seen that abuses design flaws in FairPlay, Apple's digital rights management (DRM) technology.

That's a cop out.
You and I both know the people who do still sync their phones this way are the ones most likely to be exploited.
I don't sync my phone but every new Android gets rooted out of the box using a PC toolkit.
Your peers and my peers don't do this for normal phone updates but the soccer moms and fox news junkies certainly do.
