I called Spectrum/TW and they did some tests from their end, rebooted my modem, etc and Speedtest shows 60-70 mbps, but everything is lagging so she thinks it's my modem that's acting up. I pay for at least 50 mbps. Since I bought my own modem, Arris SB6141, only 2 years ago does this sound right?

This just started out of the blue a week ago, everything was fine. Modem and router are close to my laptop which videos are dragging on from the internet and not that far from my Roku 3.

I plugged the modem straight into my laptop and internet still lagged so I don't think it's the router and it sounds like maybe it's the modem but shouldn't this last longer than 2 years?

Anyway, if that's it anyone have recommendations? Here's their approved list of modems:
Download speeds up to 300Mbps
I figure I should get the up to 100 mbps at minimum but maybe better to go for up to 300 mbps.

Some options similar in cost and speed to Arris 6141:
TP-Link DOCSIS 3.0 (TC-7610-E not sure what E stands for?)
NETGEAR DOCSIS 3.0 (CM400-1AZNAS)
Faster speeds, a little more $:
NETGEAR CM500 (16x4) DOCSIS 3.0
ARRIS SURFboard SB6183 DOCSIS 3.0
TP-Link DOCSIS 3.0 (TC-7620)

Which is the better brand of Arris, Netgear, or TP-Link?

Did you check your signal levels? Go to 192.168.100.1 and give us the upstream and downstream levels

This what you're looking for?

Could it be something simple like changing channels? This just started and has been annoying. Can't watch streaming and lots of web pages take too long to load.

Your signal levels look good.

Sounds like you are still experiencing these issues even when plugged in directly to the modem?

Does the slowdowns occur all the time it just during say the evening around 6-9pm?

Do you have another computer to try?

Go to the logs page of your modem and see if you are having issues, you could post it here.

The slowdowns are at all hours even really late. Does this tell you anything?

ETA - My wife and I both have iPad's and some of the pages are loading extra slow on those as well and I've mentioned the Roku 3 with Netfix and Kodi.

The no ranging response is notorious on these modems. I have heard everything from a bad power supply to the modem to head end issues.

Basically you are having a channel bonding issue. It is possible that you have some sort of line issue that the SB6141 is now resetting on. They can be finicky when one channel is not bonding due to noise.

You could try another brand modem to see if it gives you any relief as it won't reset as often. Lots of TW customers reporting that zoom brand modems perform better on their Network.

Or you could try to get a tech out and look at your lines. Something like this is sometimes caused by something as simple as weathered connections.

My experience to get higher level support is to try your ISP's only forum and forward them your logs.

Good luck

Just FYI since you own the modem most ISP's will only check the lines outside your house without charging you.

So I would double check my connections for any splitters etc that could cause issue.

Thanks for you help, I do have a splitter in the walls. I had them out here before because the cable was having issues so they fixed that. Internet has been good for a while. Is it more likely weathered cables/connections or the modem?

Oh and I have been checking on their forums but it seems just users helping not Time Warner. A girl did ask to see my logs and she mentioned the rebooting thing but that's me and TWC doing that. She mentioned T3 and upstream issue, not sure what that is?

Thanks again

Really tough to say, I had a similar issue that ended up being a weathered connection installed on the trap. When the tech opened the underground cable box it was full of water, so go figure it was having issues. However I would have never really known because I had an older Thompson modem I had been using. The signal was mostly stable, but had the occasional hiccup. Once I switched to the Motorola is when it became noticeable because the noise was bad on one of the upstream channels, the Motorola modem firmware throttled the connection and constantly tried to reconnect. Once the tech fixed the line, it has been rock solid.

The T3 issue she is referring to is the same ranging problem.

Well, I'm on the 18th floor of a condo so I can check with others but I haven't heard any grumbling.

I just tightened all connections and maybe change the splitter as it looks old. I just worry that won't fix it and I don't know where to go next as this shite is unbearable.

Cable ISP's are notorious for overselling the nodes to condos, might ask your neighbors if they are experiencing similar issues.
