I have a Toshiba satellite laptop and am trying to figure out where on here to go to rename the wireless router and set up a password... I have my phone connected to the router by pressing the wep connect button but everything I try to do it with my laptop it says an error occurred and had to restart my commuter... So I want to change the name and set up a password for it... Thanks

You have to connect to it first. Most cable routers these days come with all the login info on a sticker on it. First use that information to connect your laptop to the router. Then hopefully there's also information for logging into the router on the sticker and you can change the password and wifi name.

All it has is the model number, serial number, and Mac address on the box and nothing else in the box... I'm connected to it through the Ethernet cable but there isn't anything with a preset password or anything like that.. I was only able to connect with my phone by pressing the wep button on the router...

Tell us (or google) the model number of the modem and we should be able to find out the default login information for the router.

Is it a black Pace box or a Cisco/Linksys router? If you have their home networking service, they are locked down with a password so users can't change the stuff and call in every 2 days because they tinkered with stuff they shouldn't have. You'll have to call support, which is why you pay for the home networking service in the first place.. so you don't have to touch it yourself.

If you don't pay for home networking, then that is your own router and you'll have to google the model to get the info to log in.

Oh okay, yeah the Pace boxes typically aren't locked down.

Glad you got it.
