I still have issues with file management with my photos with macs. I guess I have been used to managing the files and folders myself for so long that I can't get comfortable with depending on software so much. It's a PIA for copying over to the network drive for sharing and backups.

Basically I've been importing photos into iPhoto or Aperture and then exporting once edited. From there, I copy over to the network drive that my family shares and makes contributions to. Deleting photos that I don't want and moving them around is really clunky, when compared to how I would do it in windows with Windows Explorer.

What do you guys do?

Obama is at fault for Macs because if Obamas viruses weren't real, we wouldn't need Macs.

Ingest with photomechanic, edit metadata, open in camera raw for editing, and manage/archive with bridge.

Just use Photo and then Photo Sharing with a Time Machine backup, everything is done for you.

I use to use my own NAS system for photos, now I am slowing switching to Amazon Prime's unlimited photo storage that you get free with Prime.

It would be nice if Apple would go ahead and match the competition on this with unlimited storage.

I recently upgraded to Yosemite and the new Photos App. My photos from iPhoto were directly loaded into the program.

For backup, I have Photos back everything up on iCloud. It now integrates with your IOS devices, and allows full access to all of my photos on any device or through iCloud.com.

It takes a while for it to fully sink, but it has been pretty cool. Also, it eventually will reduce your file size by keeping the full resolution photo on iCloud, and a smaller optimized photo on your device. The full sized document can be easily loaded if you need it for printing.

Also, I still use Time Machine on an external HDD just in case.

Yep. I let Photos do everything for me. Auto organizes everything by date and location. I tagged all the faces. Everything gets auto pushed to all my other devices and auto backed up.
