2008 Ford f150.
Looking for one with a touch screen for dvd's and bluetooth. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I'm not very familiar in this area and my wife wants one in the truck.

Cheers

Pioneer is the best. Prices have come down a lot in recent years. I had a Kenwood in my old truck that the prior owner paid nearly $2k for, same features can be had for $500 today.

If you're an iPhone family I recommend the Pioneer NEX series. It's upgradable for CarPlay.

eta: sorry

I'm looking to upgrade as well, but I think I'm going to wait for Kenwood and pioneer to release products that support android auto.

I've had pioneer. Alpine is my favorite. Get one with high pre amp voltage output if you're going to hook to an amplifier. Amazing sound from Alpine.

I recommend the Panasonic NEX series

Pioneer makes the NEX series. I have the Pioneer Avic-8000NEX in my vehicle. Love it! The cheapest of the NEX series starts around $400-500 and the top of the line costs around $1300 (although you can usually find them cheaper by playing around online and searching different websites).

And even if you don't have an iphone, a rooted android can give you the same features as CarPlay.

Edit for the OP: a lot of 3rd party units come with a safety feature that prevents you from playing videos like DVDs while in motion and they'll even prevent you from entering an address into your navigation unless you're in park. So when the unit is installed, you may have to do a motion bypass connection in order for the DVD player to work while driving.

Edit #2: For those waiting for pioneer to be more compatible with Android (or Android Auto), the Pioneer App Radio 3 unit (maybe even the AR 2) and the entire NEX series are both fully compatible with a rooted Android using the free AppRadio Unchained app. Syncing that app with your car stereo turns the screen of your stereo into your phone's home screen. It doesn't just mirror your phone either, you can actually control your phone through your stereo (you can open all of your phone apps through your stereo, basically making your stereo a tablet).

USB to I believe hdmi on your receiver. It mirrors your phone on the receiver and you can use either device to control everything on the phone.

Android Auto
