This feature is pretty sweet IMHO. Has anyone been playing around with this yet? How long can we expect it to be before Facebook and other apps are able to upload them?

Sorry, should have added that it's an iPhone feature(sure to be coming to android shortly, if it's not already available) that captures the moment before and after you take a picture, creating a small GIF/Movie when you press on it.

What I mean is, try it and see if it works as a gif

The technology to do this has been around for a long time and many people have makeshift ways of doing this. Many just use animated GIFs or basically vine or instagram so I'm not going to say this is some groundbreaking thing.
However, now that Apple has decided on a way to do it, it will finally become mainstream. Others will jump on board and adhere to the Apple way. This is good because you'll see picture frames and photo albums using this format yet it'll be super easy for the end-user to upload.
