I have been asked to build a cornhole game set.

I was looking into adding battery powered lights to the board. I would like to place the lights around the perimeter of the board and the circumference of the hole. The surface of the board needs to be smooth for obvious reasons and I would like to avoid placing the lights on the outside edge of the board for durability reasons.

I don't know much about LED light strips or EL lighting so, can anyone give me some advice about which would be best for this utility? I was thinking of using a 9 volt battery source for each board.

Look for battery operated Christmas lights in LED. We have a couple of different ones we used for a wreath out front. The actual light is pretty small.

Just drill a hole roughly the same size as the light and attach them to the bottom. That way everything is concealed, and you just have a little light sticking up. You could mount them so the light is flush with the board pretty easily.

How about something like this, then put a layer of polyurethane over them to make the surface smooth an level.

Those are still 1/8" or maybe a little taller. Would take a shite ton of urethane.

Maybe cut a small groove for the strip to sit in.

both of those are good options. I am curious if I can make a 90 degree turn (connect strips together at 90 degrees) with the led ribbon though

The description in the link that I provided said that you can make a cut and reconnect in 3 light intervals.

quote:

Cuttable and linkable. Color changing LED Strip Lights can be cut to every 3 leds, its 3M adhesive tape backing can be fit many dry flat surface.

ah, I see the kit comes with inline connectors but just found L shape connectors available separately.
