If you have an android phone/tablet, you can use the app AGK Fire to send apps (e.g., TVMC/Kodi) to the firestick without needing the adbfire program which I thought was more powerful and complex than anything I needed.

Just went to Best Buy to purchase a FIRE TV. All fire tvs were pulled from the shelves and the Fire TV2 isn't available to buy yet.
Salesmen told me they are pulling the Fire Tvs because amazon doesn't want it to be jail broken anymore and the new one won't be jail broken
Just said screw it and got the Fire Stick

I just went ahead and bought a Google Nexus TV from Best Buy on sale for $49.99 on Wednesday. Kodi app is available for free from the Google Play Store. Nothing else needed to be done.
I plan on only using the Nexus TV for only Kodi as I already have a Roku for Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, Watch ESPN, HBO, Showtime etc
