Ipod Transfer

Have an ipod with about 4000 songs on it. only problem is the original computer it was all stored on crashed. Got a laptop and installed itunes and want to move all of the ipod to the laptop and put on an iphone i use for work.
How do i accomplish this for free?

I've used Sharepod in the past to do this. Not sure whether it's still free and unlimited.
