Iphone stuck on red itunes logo.

I need help. I tried downloading an update and now my phone is stuck with the red itunes logo. The phone will not open. I have tried everything. It says to restore on the itunes, but I do not want to restore. Any help out there would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

The same thing happened to me yesterday. I went through with the steps using itunes and then thought I'd have to restore it with a backup. To my pleasant surprise everything was still there.
