Any thoughts on iPhone SE?

Currently rocking a 4S that is falling apart.
I don't think it'll last another day.
The idea of paying $650 for a 6s seems crazy to me, I want an iPhone but don't use a lot of the features.
What about the iPhone SE? It's $399, and from articles I read, seems to be comparable.
I do take some pictures, but they don't need to be great (obviously if I've made it with a 4s this long..)
Verizon offers a $199 6s with a contract for 2 years, but charges extra each month if you do that instead of pay the $650..so in the end, its cheaper to just pay full price or add the cost of phone to bill each month.
Amazon phones looked expensive too.
Any thoughts on iPhone SE?
Thank you
I'm so sick of dealing with salespeople and don't want to go back to store until my mind is made up.

I just pulled the trigger on one as well. They are having to make more because they underestimated the demand. I bought mine sim free from Apple because my service is with Cricket. Surprising Apple was the cheapest. Good thing about buying it outright is if you don't like it then you can sell it and get something else.

Sounds like SE is the way to go for you. You'll get a nice upgrade in performance, camera, screen quality and size.
Here's a good video on the SEs pros and cons. Keep in mind the guy's tech standards are pretty high:

Whenever I hold my mom's 4S, I can't believe how tiny it looks. I realize the SE is a little bigger, but I can't imagine using anything smaller than the 6/6s now. Even with that I find the screen too small more often than I'd like. This probably makes no sense to you now since you're used to the 4S, but people used to live without air conditioners too, doesn't mean we should go back to that.

I might try out cricket. Do you get good service? It looks like it uses at&t coverage which is nice.

Yea, I've had no problems with it at all. I got on board when they had a promotion, it was $60 for unlimited talk, text, and 20GB of data. It's $55 after auto-pay. The only thing is that they capped your data speed at 8mbps but I haven't really noticed.

I think it would depend on how she is with her other valuables. Also it's going to depend on what her friends are getting. If you don't trust her with a new phone definitely get a used one. Just know that you may have to replace it sooner because it's used.

WOW. That sounds tempting. Really tempting.
Eta: I have had an unlimited data plan with Verizon and they have slowly jumped the price up to where it is costing me a fortune. I didn't realize how valuable unlimited data was until I saw how much my bill is now. And I don't have hardly any minutes to actually talk on my phone as it is.
$60 for that much data sounds amazing.

Unfortunately, they don't offer that plan anymore. I'm grandfathered in. The highest they go now is 10GB
Correction! They do have an unlimited plan that is $70 and $65 after auto-pay.
I think the highest I have used in a month was almost 8GB.

You can't get 20GB anymore that was a promotion last year. It looks like they recently added an unlimited tier for $65 if you use auto pay.

I got an SE when they came out as I had been waiting to switch from Android but didnt want a phablet. I like it so far. Feels like a 5s, performs like a 6s

I received my SE last week. It's my first venture into the smart phone scene. I bought it to use with medical apps. I took a class at the Apple Store and learned all kinds of cool stuff it can do. And it's small and can fit in a pocket.

My SE is currently still being processed. Ordered it a little over a week ago and they said it would be 2-3 weeks before shipping.

I do take some pictures, but they don't need to be great

I've never owned an iPhone but I really wanted this phone, but I must say the no 3D Touch is a turnoff.

I really do hope the trend of flagship specs in smaller phones stays strong. I HATE having a big phone. "Omg but videos and files and live streaming!" So what? That's what tablets and smart tv's are for.

Isn't this basically the shell and screen of a 5 but with internals more like a 6?
