iPhone 5s Charging Port

I'm fairly certain that the charging port on my 5s is broken. For the past 5 months I had to hold the cord in place at an angle for the phone to charge and now it won't charge at all.
Has anyone here ever attempted to replace the charging port themselves? If so how difficult is it?

Tried a different cord I assume?

Oh ya, been through 4 or 5 different cords. Wall outlets and computer USB. Now when I try and plug into my computer, it shuts down the port because of a power surge, so I assume that its gotta be the charging port.

Clean it with a toothbrush. Worked amazingly on mine. Google it, there are videos.

I replaced the charging port/microphone (it was all one piece) on a 4S. Pretty simple to do. The kit was fairly cheap, and there was a great youtube video showing step by step. Not sure how the 5s is set up, but on the 4s there was this rubber piece that slipped over the microphone area that would reduce feedback/static. I forgot to put it on the new piece, and had to tear it down and do it again because there was this awful echo every time my wife was on a call. Maybe 30 minutes, tops, to tear it down and replace.

Try using the very end of a paper clip. Go all the way to the end of the port and start trying to retrieve stuff out of there. Youd be amazed by all the lent that will be in there. It worked for me

Thanks for the replies.
I have done this with a paper clip and cleared a bunch of crap out of there and it worked a little bit better for a while. Gonna try the tooth brush tonight and see if that helps.
