IPhone 4s speaker issue

My wife's 4s quit charging via a cable and would only charge sitting on a dock. I ordered one of the kits off of amazon and checked out ifixit and replaced it on Monday. My first time taking s phone apart. Today she tells me that there is a horrible echo when she's talking on it. I'm wondering if I messed something up in there. Has anyone ever had an issue with this? I think the only parts I actually disconnected were the battery and the charging piece. It now charges on a cable just fine and everything else works. Plays music through the speakers. Could I have messed up the microphone?
