It's an iPad 2 dude. They're 4 years old.

Made the mistake of updating one ipad 2 in the house to 8.x.

The others are still on 7.x and rock.

Sucks, but it is what it is.

9.0 will improve stability and performance on older iPads.

I thought Apple announced the 2's wouldn't be able to handle later iOS updates?

My 2 is practically unusable now...

You can try the iOS 9 beta on iPad 2. I don't use it for anything heavy, but it works for me.

But it sounds like you could try some easier stuff first. Like double-clicking the home button and shutting down open programs you aren't using. Maybe do a hard reset by holding down the home button and power button for 10 seconds.

People never learn

You have an iPad 2. The last major update killed your iPad too(till they could patch it), so why would you assume this to have a different outcome?

You would think Apple would do something about their uneducated users though. Like not pushing the update to older models, or taking into account older hardware in their initial updates. I'm not tech savvy enough to assume that the software can distinguish between hardware when they push updates, but I like to assume that it's easily accomplishable.

They have a different OS build for every different SKU.

Apple wants to slow down their old products, so you will buy their new products.
