To answer your actual question to actually get your advertised speeds:
1) You will need a gigabit Ethernet card installed on your computer. You could buy one yourself or you could buy any new computer as it has been a standard for many years.
2) If you are using a router you will need one where both the WAN port and the switch itself are capable of gigabit speeds. Assuming your router is as old as your computer, you might need to upgrade.
3) If you are getting 50mbps before, you will not need to upgrade your modem as it appears you already have a DOCSIS 3.0 certified modem.
My personal suggestion is to tell us what router you own, and to probably buy a new PC.
If your PC is old enough to not support gigabit ethernet it is probably a good time to upgrade.

Yea, as someone previously asked, what are you doing with your laptop/computer that you want to actually achieve 150 mbps?
As in, are you just working on Excel and Word and you just want to email things? If so, save your money as there is no reason to buy a whole new laptop/computer for that purpose UNLESS you just want to buy a new laptop.
If you're streaming Netflix and Hulu type apps on your computer then sure. It really just boils down to what are you using your laptop for that you want to achieve those internet speeds?

Yeah, I would say this is the only possibility that your computer is the problem. If so, you'll probably need a PCI or PCI express gigabit ethernet adapter that hooks into your motherboard. They make external ones that attach to USB 3.0, but I doubt a 6 year old computer would support that (don't think it was available then).
