I have Charter's 60 mbps cable internet but I think I'm going to bundle with DirecTV and get AT&T's 50 mbps DSL.

Will I notice much difference?

You probably wouldn't in the speed difference, but DSL isn't quite as consistent in my experience.

Actually it's fiber optic. Not DSL

What's the ATT internet cost when bundled with Directv?

ATT is starting to install fiber in my neighborhood now.

Be careful with the ATT advertisied fiber

Not everyone is getting fiber to their door like they think they would.

Ya this looks to be fiber to the neighborhood hub and telephone line into the house.

Crap. It's probably gonna suck.

Probably not. VDSL with FTTN isn't nearly as bad as straight copper. I've seen 800Mbps in a lab environment in that scenario. Granted, they won't sell you that and that is in a lab environment, but fiber to the node is much less susceptible to interference and noise.

I wonder if they'd let me cancel 30 minutes after signing the contract? lol

I left charter's 60mbps cable for Uverse 50mbps "fiber".

I'm just worried about the stability

Did charter have a data cap? I'm pretty sure bc their merger they can't for like seven years

I know uverse does?

Charter does not and since I'm bundling uverse internet and directv, as a bonus I get no data cap.

We finally agree on something. 50 mbps uverse is most likely not fiber to your house.

However, for 99% of usage, you will see no difference between 60mbps cable and 50 uverse. Cable is the better tech, but go for att if the savings is there.

Edit- I went from 100mb cable to 45mb uverse. Downloads take slightly longer, streaming audio/video is exactly the same. I don't game so I can't comment on that. I haven't had any service outages. Overall very satisfied. You will want to use their gateway in modem mode only, and use your own router.

My brother's house was built in 2013, so they laid fiber in the back of that subdivision when it was being built. He initially ordered 45 Mbps by accident. They ran fiber to the outside of his house. He just didn't have everything else set up. They came back out a few days later and upgraded him to 1 Gbps.

If you don't see Fiber speeds (100 Mbps or 1 Gbps) advertised for your address, it's Fiber to the VRAD and copper to the home.

The day I was there, I checked the DMARK (the box outside), and I saw the Corning labeled fiber line running into his DMARK. I was only able to top out at 46 Mbps when running a speed test on the 5 GHz band.

I'm not an at&t expert. bottlegnome posts here, and he works for them. There is another at&t guy here as well. They will know more and be able to confirm more than me. I just know based off of what I've read from them, what little bit I've learned from speaking to at&t techs I meet out in the field, my installation of at&t U-verse TV back in 2014 and what I saw at his house that day. I wasn't home when at&t installed our internet, but we have the 1 Gbps internet.

I know cable tv, internet and phone. I also know satellite tv and internet. Fiber is awesome!

AT&T canceled my order this morning. They said the couldn't open a new account because I previously had one and would have to use my old one.

I called DirecTV and talked to a white dude who was clueless and trying to charge me out the arse. I hung up and called back and got transferred to an Indian dude working in one of those massive buildings full of Indian dudes answering phones.

He hooked me up. Xtra package on two TV's, NFL Sunday Ticket, 3 free months of the Playboy channel and a $200 Visa Gift Card.

$57 a month for the first year and $73 a month in the second year.
